That's exactly my pro...I fully agree, Afrikah.

That's exactly my problem with people like Watkins, Smiley, and West. They're helping the GOP under the guise of Black advocacy. So they're either one of two things - too dumb to see the big picture, in which case, they shouldn't be trying to instruct others in the first place; or they're duplicitous, in which case, they should be exposed.Eric L. He has a classic case of "Obama Derangement Syndrome". People like that is a great danger to the future of Black America because they are using and abusing their influence and platform to mis-charactize the only ally we have in Washington. with the intent to depress the Black vote.

IrisAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19330072.post-18971290605586751412012-05-14T09:06:37.469-07:002012-05-14T09:06:37.469-07:00Jeff,
I'm in complete agreement with you. And...Jeff,

I'm in complete agreement with you. And please believe me, when I refer him as a "public intellectual," it's drippin' with sarcasm. But actually, I feel kind of sorry for Watkins. Basically, I think he's a pretty good guy. I don't think he's acting with the malevolent motives of Tavis and West. He's just starstruck by those two and suffers from an inability to connect the dots for himself.

I mean, look at what he said above. This guy represents himself as an equal rights advocate, so even if he thought such things you'd think he'd have the sense not to make a public pronouncement of it. He might as well have simply said, "I'm a hypocrite." So an intellectual giant he's clearly not.

EricEric L. Of course when you ask what the Black agenda is, people suddenly start staring at their shoes or rolling their eyes.

Maybe it's time to stop calling Watkins and his ilk "public intellectuals" and identify them as what they are, Haters. They don't have any idea how they would make things any better, but they are sure they could do a better job.Jeff Winbushhttp://jeffwinbush.comnoreply@blogger.com
