TO BILL COSBY DEFENDERS

Beneath The Spin*Eric L. Wattree

TO BILL COSBY DEFENDERS
.

I'd like to point out to Bill Cosby's ardent defenders that this isn’t Cliff Huxtable, or “America’s dad,” that your defending, this is Bill Cosby, a turkey who had a wife and young family, yet spent more time at the Playboy mansion than Hugh Hefner. He also had a penchant for speaking down to Black people as though we were children. When he was flying high and deluding himself into believing that he was an honorary member of the "White Elitist Society," he said the following in his infamous "Pound Cake" rant:
.
"Looking at the incarcerated, these are not political criminals. These are people going around stealing Coca-Cola. People getting shot in the back of the head over a piece of pound cake! And then we all run out and are outraged, 'The cops shouldn't have shot him!' What the hell was he doing with the pound cake in his hand?"
.
Well, maybe he was hungry, Bill.  Does that warrant the death penalty?  On the other hand, you were stealing something of a lot more value than pound cake, so let me ask you the same question - what the hell were you doing with Quaaludes in your hand?  So don't try to look all sad and put-upon now, because you're the one who set the standard by which you're now being judged.
.
Bill was rich, beloved, and famous, so he might have easily been able to get consensual sex from many of the 62 women (count ‘em SIXTY-TWO!!!) who have come out against him. But he didn’t want that. He wanted to drug them and steal it - in other words, RAPE THEM.  That was a part of his bigoted perversion - he didn’t just want to have sex, he wanted to humiliate and shame them.  And yes, it was bigotry. Male supremacy is a more rampant form of bigotry in this society than even White supremacy, because, as the Cosby case clearly demonstrates, even Black males engage in it, but it’s so routine that most of us have simply accepted it as a way of life.
.
Think about it - even as we’re screaming about Bill Cosby being treated unfairly due to his race, we don’t seem to give a damn about the SIXTY-TWO woman who are complaining about his bigoted male perversion against them; we want to slut-shame them instead - that's bigotry. So congratulations, now you know the mindset of White jurors who let murderous cops go free after they shoot down innocent Black people in the street like dogs. Thus, you don’t have to be White to be a bigot - you’re just a different kind of bigot.
.
COSBY JUROR EXPLAINS HIS VOTE
.
USA Today reported that “For Juror No. 1 in Bill Cosby's retrial, it was the comedian/actor's own admission that he drugged women that helped the juror determine Cosby was guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault.
.
“Snyder pinpointed Cosby's 2005 deposition as the evidence that pointed him towards guilty. In a 2005 deposition, Cosby acknowledged he acquired drugs, including the now-banned sedative quaaludes, to give to women he sought for sex. Cosby also acknowledged he repeatedly engaged in extramarital sexual relationships with young women he met as one of the most popular and powerful men in Hollywood.
.
“‘Cosby admitted to giving these quaaludes to women — young women, in order to have sex with them,’ Snyder told ABC News correspondent Lindsey Davis.”
https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2018/04/30/bill-cosby-juror-tells-good-morning-america-comics-own-words-led-his-conviction/563901002/
.
So what we’ve got to realize - both Black people and White - is if you’re against bigotry, you must be against ALL bigotry, and the bigotry of male supremacy is just as bigoted and wrong as White supremacy, and anyone who can’t see that - whether they be Black or White - is just as much a bigot as those who lynched Black people in the South.

BLACK LIBERATION MUST BEGIN WITH BLACK EXCELLENCE

Beneath The Spin*Eric L. Wattree

BLACK LIBERATION MUST BEGIN WITH BLACK EXCELLENCE
.
Black liberation will only exist as Martin's dream until we seize control of our own destiny, and the only way we can accomplish that is by educating ourselves and modifying the cultural mores we were taught during slavery, and later, during the Jim Crow era. We can get out and shout, scream and demonstrate until the cows come home, but all that’s going to do is possibly gain redress on atrocities that’s been committed against us one incident at a time - and even then, only after the atrocities have already been committed. Clear evidence of that is the fact we’re still demonstrating over the very same issues that Martin and Malcolm were fighting to correct over 50 years ago.
.
The root of the problem is that we’re being “managed” by others, and we’re stuck in the attitudes and behaviors that our “handlers”ingrained in us over generations.  That places us in the exact same position as a pet, and no pet has any control over its owner, or how it’s treated by that owner. He’s completely at the owner’s mercy.  But Black people are not pets. We have options, but in order to avail ourselves of those options we must free ourselves of our  “training” by re-educating ourselves and gaining intellectual independence.
.
In a previous article, “The Grits and Gravy Debate,” I pointed out the following:
.
“Many Black people contracted a serious mental disorder during slavery, and it's been passed down through the generations over the years. It entails an innate distrust and disdain of our own people, the lack of focus and a seeming inability to prioritize, and the tendency to be disagreeable and hostile toward anyone who challenges the status quo. That attitude makes it next to impossible for Black people to come together and organize to improve our condition - and it also serves to insure the stability of the White supremacist system.
.
“Even Martin Luther King was initially criticized by the Black church for causing an unnecessary disturbance to the status quo. They told him to stop rockin' the boat and just pray on it, and eventually racism and bigotry would work itself out. That mindset is so pronounced within the Black community that Malcolm was even killed by his own people. The White man has done his job well, so if we want to move forward in a society that has the odds stacked against us, we must learn to stick together, organize, focus, and make knowledge and a dedication to serious pursuits what it means to have “soul.”  We must seek to own the racetrack, instead of just being the horse.
.
So we must learn to stop just blindly accepting the statu quo.  When the cops shoot and kill an unarmed Black man in his own backyard, what do we do?  We go crying to White politicians for justice. We do that because we just blindly accept what we’ve been taught - that politicians are our leaders.  But the fact is, that politician that we go crying to is not our leader, he’s our employee. So we’re, literally, living our lives by allowing the tail to wag the dog, but that’s only the case because we allow it to be.
.
We must learn to take control of our lives and place ourselves in a position where we don’t have to beg and cry for justice, but demand it.  But of course, we can’t out-scream the White man, because he controls the media, and we can’t out-fight him because we're only 13.3% of the population and he controls the military and police. But while those things might be true, we can out-think him, and Black people have both the intellect, and the proven creativity to do just that; we simply have to refocus it, and that’s exactly why the Black community must make the pursuit of knowledge our number one priority. Again, we must make knowledge the new “soul.” Instead of Black people being world renown for how much rhythm we have, we must refocus our intellect and creativity on becoming world renown for how much knowledge we possess, and with just a little effort we can do just that.
.
The Republican Party has been mounting a brutal assault on our educational system for nearly forty years now, and there’s a reason for that - they know that it’s incumbent upon them to keep America ignorant and uninformed, because people who are informed and highly educated tend not to vote Republican. Highly educated people have both the intellect to see through conservative propaganda, and the knowledge to know their history and agenda. Once we begin to recognize that fact, we’ll also recognize the opportunity that it provides the Black community. Since the GOP is leaving no stone unturned to keep America ignorant and uninformed, we should leave no stone unturned to obtain as much education and knowledge as we can. Thereafter, we can use our exceptional knowledge to level the playing field against White supremacy. Black people could quite easily use their innate intellect and creativity to become the most educated group in America - Black women are already accomplishing that goal; now all we have to do is get the brothers onboard:
.
BLACK WOMEN ARE NOW THE MOST EDUCATED GROUP IN AMERICA
.
“Black women are now the most educated group in US, according to the National Center for Education Statistics.
.
“Between 2009 and 2010, black women earned 68 per cent of associate's degrees, 66 per cent of bachelor's degrees, 71 per cent of master's degrees and 65 per cent of all doctorate degrees awarded to black students.”
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/black-women-become-most-educated-group-in-us-a7063361.html
.
But many Black men have an aversion to the active pursuit of knowledge. They tend to focus their considerable intellect on trying to be cool and other macho pursuits, like trying to be perceived as ladies men and players.  There's a reason for that.  During slavery, the only Blacks that field slaves knew who spoke anything that even resembled "proper English" were the house slaves, and they were looked upon with disdain, because the house slaves tended to look down their noses at the slaves who worked the fields. As a result, even though many Blacks fail to realize it on a conscious level, a negative attitude has been passed down through the years towards anything that reminds us of the house slave (or "house nigga")–and that includes articulate speech, and the desire for academic excellence.
.
That explains why we hear obviously intelligent young Black people going around saying things like "What it is?" or "What it be like?"  Many of these young people can speak better English than White people, but they tend to believe that they have a moral obligation to sound ignorant in order to demonstrate that they take pride in their Black culture. So what does that say about their underlying mindset?  It says that they equate the Black culture with ignorance, and that's a toxic mindset, because you are what you think.
.
That also accounts for why we hear so many Black Ph.Ds on national television quoting Tupac instead of Langston Hughes or James Baldwin. Essentially, it's a public apology for being a seeker of knowledge. The message is, "Yeah, I've got an education, but don't worry about it - I'm still one of you." This attitude also accounts for the question that arose regarding whether Barack Obama was "Black enough", and why there was so much pressure on Obama to attend functions like Tavis Smiley's "State of Black America" talkfest - they wanted him to prove that he hadn't been "tainted" by his pursuit of excellence.
.
We've got to get away from this kind of thinking - first, because it sends our young people the message that they have a moral obligation to remain ignorant and on the bottom rung of society in order to prove their worthiness as truly Black,  and secondly, because it leaves us unprepared to face the new realities of the world around us.  The Black community has both the intellect and the resources to move to the very top of this society, and we must begin to utilize them both. Thereafter, we won't have to tell others that Black lives matter, we can show them.  So, "What it is?" - it's stupid not to get on our job.
.
BLACK RESOURCES
.
The African American community controls as much spending power than the Gross National Product of Germany - $1.1 TRILLION - the third richest industrial nation in the world, so why are we whining to the White man to provide for our needs?
.
Dr. James P. Neelankavil, a professor of marketing and international business at Hofstra University, says in his book, International Business Research, that "Since the output of a country is an indicator of its economic activity, the GNP [Gross National Product] is often used as key factor in evaluating a country’s economic strength. The five largest countries in the world based on their GNP are the United States, $7 trillion; Japan, $2.5 trillion; Germany, $1.1 Trillion; France, $873 billion; and China, $393 billion."
.
So based on Professor Neelankavil’s data, the African American community’s buying power of $1.1 trillion is equal to the economy of Germany, the third largest industrial economy in the world. We control $127 billion more than France, and $607 billion more than the gross national product of China. So why was it that in the 2014 midterm election people like Tavis Smiley and Cornel West were running around suggesting that due to high unemployment in the Black community, Black people would be justified in sitting at home, not voting, and thereby, letting the Republican Party win governorships around the country, and take over the House and Senate? There’s something wrong there. Either they, and their ilk, are grossly uninformed - in which case, they need to keep their mouths shut and educate themselves - or they’re in active collusion with the GOP the Black community’s worst enemy, and the domestic enemy of the United States as a whole.  And with respect to Smiley, that's not as speculative as one might think. Tavis Smiley was given national exposure by Walmart, the most conservative and worker-hostile corporation in the United States.
.
So the Black community has got to educate itself, and stop listening to political demagogues, Black or White. Before we can do that, however, we're going to have to get the people’s attention and get everybody on the same page in order to mount a collective effort. How are we going to do that?  That’s easy. We’re going to have to start with our churches.
.
The Black community is going to have to put pressure on our Black churches to form a consortium and remain open 7 days a week to provide community services instead of having preachers just give spoken-word concerts every Sunday and then taking Black wealth out of the community. We must insist that they begin to perform community services instead of just running their mouths. They should be hiring unemployed mothers to provide low-cost childcare for working mothers, and enlisting their retired congregants to provide professional tutoring in music and the arts after school. These professionals could teach our young people to play musical instruments, write poetry and prose, perform modern dance, and even instruct them in dress design and computer programming. The churches could also organize sports teams, and put on fashion shows, and concerts. They could also serve as political action and education centers where the people can meet, organize, get to know one another, and learn the value of patronizing the businesses in our own community instead of just driving past on their way to Walmart.  After all, the Bible says, "IF YE WERE ABRAHAM'S CHILDREN, YE WOULD DO THE WORKS OF ABRAHAM" - John 8:39.  Thus, according to the Bible, talk is cheap.
.
If we would just learn that, we wouldn’t have to say a word to politicians, because as our local Black businesses began to prosper, and Walmart and the other White businesses began to feel the pinch of losing their cut of our $1.1 trillion, it would say it all - that it’s a new day in the Black community. Then, instead of shunning us and telling us to go sit in the corner, they’d start catering to us; and if a cop shot a Black child, or upset the Black community in any way, all hell would break loose, because the politicians would know that we were gonna come after them in force, and in solidarity, on election day. And the White business community would be up-in-arms because they wouldn’t want to loose any more of the trillion dollars they’re competing for in the community due to our anger.
.
Then once we've gotten everybody on the same page and established our community's clout, we could begin to encourage Black entertainers and athletes to invest in the community, and get awards shows like the Soul Train, and B.E.T. Awards to use their platforms to honor our young Black scholars and the people of outstanding achievement in the community.  The entertainers would still play a role, but their role would be to entertain and pass out awards, instead of strutin' up on stage to receive them.  If we did that, it would send the message to Black youth that the pursuit of Black excellence is cool, and it could bring them national notoriety.

.
Another thing it would do is offset the White establishment attempt to portray the excellence of Barack Obama as a once in a generation aberration. By organizing to do the things pointed out above, we would not only motivate and refocus the mindset of our young people and the community, but demonstrate to the world that the Black community is filled with thousands of Barack Obamas. In addition, when our community leaders spoke to the various politicians, they’d speak with the clout of an employer to an employee, as it should be.
.
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS
YOUNG BLACK MAN WOULD BECOME
ONE OF THE GREATEST PRESIDENTS IN
AMERICAN HISTORY?
.
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA JUDGED 8TH GREATEST PRESIDENT
IN AMERICAN HISTORY.
DONALD TRUMP CAME IN LAST AT 44TH
.
President Barack Hussein Obama came in as the 8th greatest president in American history after Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, Harry S. Truman and Dwight Eisenhower in the 2018 Presidents and Executive Politics Presidential Greatness Survey. Donald Trump came in dead last in 44th place.  The Survey was based on 170 responses from current and former members of the American Political Science Association's Presidents and Executive Politics Section.

DONALD TRUMP: A FOOL WITH THE POWER TO DESTROY THE WORLD

Beneath the Spin * Eric L. Wattree

DONALD TRUMP: A FOOL WITH THE POWER TO DESTROY THE WORLD
.
Just when one begins to think that Trump has reached the lowest depths of immaturity, classlessness, and the lack of presidential decorum he outdoes himself. By calling former FBI Director Comey a “slimeball,” he not only makes himself look like an irate 7 year-old, but calls upon the American people to compare Comey’s long history of competence, dignity, and impeccable reputation of public service, to his own short but prolific history of lying, incessant self-aggrandizement, and glaring childlike incompetence for review. Even a mindless fool and international laughingstock should know better than that, which only goes to show that Donald Trump is his own worst enemy, and is severely lacking in the simple common sense necessary to be President of the United States.
.
Can you even imagine Barack Obama using empty and immature language like that to attack even his worst enemy and biggest critic? Of course not - because President Obama was a mature adult who recognized that one of the most important tools in a leader’s toolbox is gaining and holding on to the world’s respect, and the very best way to do that is by always maintaining presidential decorum, not getting into spitball fights over twitter like a 7 year-old playing in a sandbox.
.

.
Now that's the way you deal with a critic, with class, good humor, dignity, and the understanding that criticism comes with the job.  But Trump’s behavior in this regard brings worldwide shame and embarrassment upon the American people. Who wants to see the leader of their nation jumping up and down in a childish snit, and stomping his feet and name-calling like a spoiled brat on an unsupervised playground?  Nobody - it's an embarrassing thing to watch. Thus, as a direct result of Trump's childlike behavior, other leaders around the world no longer take either Trump or the American people seriously. In a little over a year with Trump at the helm, the United States has gone from a respected leader of the free world, to a nation that's being ignored on most serious matters, but managed, to make sure it’s idiot leader won’t blowup the world.  We're treated like a reckless kid that needs to be watched at all times.
.
So Donald Trump is not looked upon as a legitimate president, he’s seen throughout the world as a very bad international joke, but a dangerous one. Like the vast majority of the American people, the international community recognizes that Trump doesn’t think. In the past year or so he’s been in office it’s become increasingly apparent that in order to accommodate his obvious insecurity, he’s developed a narcissistic and self-aggrandizing personality that’s completely oblivious to everything else. That makes him totally incapable of considering what’s in the best interest of either America or the world, because he’s so completely absorbed in what’s in his own best interest that he never gives it a second thought.  That makes him a dangerous man, because if he thinks a limited nuclear attack on the North Koreans will raise his poll numbers, it’s a done deal. And in spite of the fact that he managed to get 5 deferments to avoid his own military service, he’s fully capable of sending our troops to their deaths just to defend his fragile ego.
.
Former FBI Director James Comey pointed out this flaw in Trump’s character in his book, “A Higher Loyalty.” He indicated that when he briefed Trump on the ‘Steele Dossier” by Christopher Steele, a former British intelligent agent, which recounted alleged instances of how the Russians interfered in the 2016 election and had collected evidence that could be used to compromise Trump - like video of a sexual escapade that Trump allegedly had with Russian prostitutes where the women were peeing on one another - Trump was more interested in how he could protect himself against the potential embarrassment of the escapade than he was in how we could protect the United States from future Russian meddling in our elections. He didn’t even seem to be interested in the subject - it was all about him, and HIS image.
.
And then there’s the matter of Trump’s proposed military parade, supposedly to honor our troops, but actually, as a salute to to himself.  Trump has ordered the pentagon to organize a huge military parade to be held in Washington, D.C. in the very near future.  While several other countries routinely stage such parades as a part of their national tradition, the United States as a rule has shied away from that kind of military muscle-flexing except upon return of our troops from overseas and to punctuate the end of foreign wars. But in spite of that, Trump demanded, ‘I want a parade like the one in France [on Bastille Day],’ a military official told The Washington Post.” Adjusted for inflation, the cost of the parade that George H.W. Bush gave after the Gulf War was $21 million. So Trump wants to throw millions of dollars away on a whim to honor himself - and that’s in spite of the fact that the GOP wants to cut Social Security, Medicare, and other programs for the American people.
.
In addition, Military.com, reported the following:
.
The Trump budget “would cap the next military pay raise; hike healthcare fees ‘modestly’ for working-age military retirees, and increase co-payments on pharmacy drugs for TRICARE beneficiaries, including retirees of any age.” It goes on to say, the “administration has fresh cost-cutting plans. Many target federal civilian employees but one that would hit 208,000 seriously disabled older veterans particularly hard. These “IU” veterans have disability ratings from the Department of Veterans Affairs of 60 to 90 percent, but because they aren’t able to work they receive VA compensation as if 100-percent disabled.  Individual Unemployability or IU status provides, on average, an additional $1300 a month in VA disability pay. The administration wants Congress to end IU eligibility next year for any veteran 62 and older who qualifies for at least minimum Social Security payments. Their VA compensation would be rolled back to amounts payable based on their actual disability ratings of 60 to 90 percent.”
.
So while Trump claims to want to honor our military with a parade, his budget doesn't seems to reflect a concern for our military veterans at all.  It seems more like a document designed to rob veterans in order to help finance his egregiously vulgar tax cut for the rich - so egregious, in fact, that it's left average Americans $1.5 TRILLION in debt.
.
Retired Major General Paul Eaton penned what some have referred to as a "jaw-dropping" response to Trump's call for a military parade. The general said the following:

.

MAJOR GENERAL PAUL EATON
“Donald Trump has continually shown himself to have authoritarian tendencies, and this is just another example, For someone who just declared it was ‘treasonous’ to not applaud him, and for someone who has, in the past, admired the tactics of everyone from Saddam Hussein to Vladimir Putin, it is clear that a military parade isn’t about saluting the military — it’s about making a display of the military saluting him.
.
“The military is not Donald Trump’s to use and abuse in this way.” The retired major general went on to say that the military would not be “reduced to stagecraft to prop up Donald Trump’s image.
.
“Unfortunately, we do not have a commander in chief, right now, as much as we have a banana republic strong man.”

.
So the stakes are much too high for us to continue to tap dance around this issue - Donald Trump is unstable; we all know it, and the heads of state of all of the nations of the world know it. In fact, many of our long-time allies are distancing themselves from us for just that reason. Due to Donald Trump, America is no longer being led by the best among us, but the loudest, most obnoxious, and craziest among us, and he's flooding our government with more just like himself on a daily basis. That's not only a huge threat to our democracy, but to our very existence. And further. we cannot trust this man's judgement, that's why his attorneys don't want him to be interviewed by Special Prosecutor Mueller.  What if Trump's approval ratings fall into the twenties and he decides that the best way to get them back up is to engage in a "limited" nuclear exchange with North Korea, or if Kim Jong Un says or does something that fractures Trump's fragile ego or sense of narcissism? A simple slight could lead to the end the world.

ODE TO A BUTTERFLY

Beneath the Spin * Eric L. Wattree

ODE TO A BUTTERFLY
.
I love the concept of Jesus - how can I not, I was drenched in his legend from the moment I slid from the womb. But while I love the legend, I don’t buy into it for a minute - Especially the part that claims he was born  without the heated passion of love, or that he laid there and took a nap, and then got up and walked away after he was dead. God loves love, that’s why he created it, and nothing would be here without it, and dead men don’t get up and walk away.
.
And why didn’t Jesus just laugh at ‘em when they stabbed him - now, that would have got their attention. But instead, they say, he decided to take a three-day nap and only got up when nobody was looking? That sounds just like a lie to me.  What I think really happened was his followers got together and said, “Now we've been going around telling everybody Jesus was God, so how are we gonna justify him dying?” So they decided to wait around for a few days until no one was looking, then they broke into his tomb and stole his body. They then told everybody, “Praise the lord! We told you he was God! Look, he got up and walked away!”
.
Yeah, right. I don’t think so. I don’t buy into that nonsense for a minute - God blessed me with too much common sense to embrace Mother Goose.  That’s not the way God does things - he gives you sense. God is consistent.  If dead men don't walk and snakes don't talk today, they didn't walk and talk back then.  But that’s why “faith” is so big in religion - that’s the only way man can get you to believe in his nonsense, instead of listening to God whispering into your ear saying, “Man, now you know that don’t make sense.”  So given a choice between man and God, I choose to listen to God and common sense; I leave the Voodoo of faith to man.
.
And no, I don’t believe Jesus was God, or even the son of God. How do we know God’s even a man at all? How do we know God’s not a whale, or a butterfly?  It’s only man’s arrogance that tells us differently. Only the arrogance of man makes us believe that God created himself in man’s image. God is EVERYTHING he created, and he created apricots just like he did man, so why would God want to make himself look like man instead of a Plump and juicy piece of fruit? God is also in watermelons - maybe that’s why Black people love them so much.  I just ate one, cold and crisp, and with every bite I went straight to Heaven.  Yeah, go ahead and laugh, but what’s more ridiculously comical than man? At least a watermelon is without sin and only lives for our pleasure. On the other hand, man lives to raise Hell, and every time he opens his mouth he’s lyin’ - every one of them reminds me of Donald Trump.

.
Now open up your Bible and try to find St. Willie, St. Debra, or St. Chung. You won’t find ‘em, because the men who wrote the Bible didn’t believe God loved or spoke to anything, or anybody, who didn’t look just like them. Now, THAT’S funny - and ignorant as well. So naw, I don’t buy it.  I think Jesus was simply a good-natured philosopher - A good-natured BLACK philosopher - nothing more, and nothing less. Jesus was simply misunderstood. When he said, “I and the father are one,” he meant that God and ALL things are one, so you, and your French poodle are also one with God.
.
A child dies somewhere in this world every 7 seconds, and women and children are choked to death in Syria from the chemical evils of man; young Black men are being lynched by bullet in cities all across America, and so-called “Men of God” demonstrate in the street “in the name of the Lord” to keep the hungry and homeless out of their neighborhoods. So why would God want to be a man? Why would he want to make himself evil?
.
Yet, every Sunday in churches all across this country, arrogant “Men of God” continue to testify -“God loves me so much that he paid my light bill!” What kind of stupidity is that!!!?
.
Yet, still I pray - not to Jesus, but to whales, watermelons, and butterflies.
.
A TRUMP PRAYER MEETING
"DEAR LORD, PLEASE DON'T LET MUELLER
FIND COHEN'S TAPES."
