RAISING KAI AND LIL’ ERIC WITH VAL

“Daddy, can you beat-up the Bogeyman?”
.
“Aw, yeah. I already did – twice. That’s why he’s afraid to come in our house.”
.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, E.
YOU’VE MADE ME PROUD.
BUT NO MATTER HOW OLD YOU GET,
AND HOW MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS YOU ACHIEVE,
YOU’LL ALWAYS BE MY BABY BOY.
DADDY.

“The 1996 Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Eric Wattree returned to his roots and played his final two years of college basketball at Azusa Pacific, where he led the Cougars to two straight GSAC championships and a combined two-year overall record of 49-18 (22-6 in the GSAC).  During his 1996 senior campaign, Wattree averaged team highs of 15.4 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting a team-best .634 (201-for-317) from the floor.  For his effort, he received honorable mention NAIA All-America.  A force in the key at both ends of the court, Wattree recorded 15 double-doubles in his 57-game Cougar career.  A prep standout at Northview High School in Covina, Calif., Wattree played his first two seasons at the University of Wyoming before coming home and averaging 11.8 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds for the Cougars during his 1995 junior season.  Following his collegiate career, Wattree served with distinction in the U.S. Armed Forces, followed by a career in federal law enforcement.”

.
Now Eric Wattree III is doing his thing on the court, and Taylor, my only granddaughter, will soon become a doctor. All of you are excelling in your own ways.
.
When I was a reckless teenager the police used to tell me that I was gonna end up spending my life in prison – if I survived - and many of the girls in school used to tell me, “Step off, Eric. I ain’t crazy”. But your mother, the most popular girl in school, decided to take a chance, and she, with the help of my mother, began to housebreak me to make me a suitable father for her children – and she succeeded. If it wasn’t for her, I would have had to draw this note, because literacy wasn’t a part of my repertoire. But she made it one of her primary goals in life to encourage me educate myself. She was an Angela Davis clone and the President of the Black student’s union, and I was an embarrassment to her. She and her clique were against everything I represented, so she gave me a choice between her, or the ignorance of the street. And fortunately, since I was sprung at the time, I made the right one.
.
By street standards caving into Val was weak, but I thank God every day of my life that I wimped-out when it came to her. I tried to stand strong, but I was no match for her and my mother, and they were strong allies.
.
You see, my mother knew Val long before I did. She knew her as a child.  In fact, my mother and Val's aunt, Ann, were "road dawgs." So when my mother got out of nursing school, she and Dr. Morris P. Atkins started a clinic together - The 55th St. Medical Center. At first was just the two of them, eventually, it was fully staffed with family, friends and acquaintances', and Val's aunt, Ann, was the billing and insurance person. So, during the Christmas season, my mother hired Val (at 14 years old) to send out Christmas cards to all of the patients. That's how we met.
.
One day (when I was 16 years old) I showed up begging for weed money. Mother knew what I wanted it for, so she was a hard sell. So I waited until she and Ann went to lunch so I could hit-up Dr. Atkins. He was always an easy touch - and he gave up more money too. Giving up twenty dollars was nothing to him, when all I really need was five. But little did I know that when I walked through the door of the clinic that day, my life would change forever.
.
When I walked up to the counter to be buzzed into the examining rooms Val had her back to me and was bent over pulling out files. Even then she was well endowed, so I remember thinking, Wow! She must be new, because I've never seen that butt before. But when I spoke, and she turned around, it was clear that she was a young girl. And the minute she looked into my eyes, I knew that we would have a future together. The look in her eyes made me feel special, and significant. It was as though she saw something in me that I was missing, and that look remained there until the night she died.
.
We became inseparable until she went to college, became and activist, and started making demands that I change my lifestyle. At first I was hard, and I dug in, so she dumped me. She wouldn't even take my calls, but unbeknownst to me, she was staying in close contact with my mother.
.
But I knew this woman loved me, so I decided to teach her a lesson.  I decided to constantly trying to call her let her know where she stood, so I'd stop calling and make her suffer. If she thought I was moving on she'd get scared and start begging for my forgiveness. Then one day I turned on the television and there she was on "Boss City" (the Soul Train of the time). She and some guy were partners in a dance contest together - and they won! When they hugged one another I wanted to throw a brick at the television set.
.
When I told my mother about it she said, "Eric, Valdie ain't thinking about you no more. She's dating a law student at UCLA. She don't have no time for your childishness - and I hear his people's got money and the brother drives a Mercedes." So, I called her house, and when her mother told me she wasn't at home, I parked down the street from her house waiting to confront this brother, and start a scene. Then when they never showed up, I really went crazy. I couldn't even sleep. All I could see in the back of my mind is her spending a night with him and making passionate love. I didn't find out that the story about the law student was a sham cooked up by her and my mother until two years after we were married, when she was 19, and I was 21. In fact, she was standing behind the door when her mother told me she wasn't home.
.
But a year after we were married, Kai was born, and a year and 9 months later, you were born. After that, I began to focus on what life was really about, and that gave your mother something to work with, so she began to talk about who I could be, and that I should start developing the skills to write about what I'm always talk about (I've always been into politics).
.
So even though she was a young girl, she was always pushing, and she sent me through hell. I remember telling her, "Stop trying to turn me into Malcolm!" But in her 20's she was a devout activist and death on any brother who just lived from day to day and not trying to improve himself. She said, ignorance was what was holding Black people down.
.
So, in her 20's she was a terror, and all about knowledge and being "down for the cause". In her 30's she had chilled a bit. While her message was the same, she was much more subtle. Nevertheless, she got her message across by gently massaging it into your psyche, a technique that she eventually mastered, and led to her producing - not just good children, but exceptional ones. That's also what caused everyone to love her, because she could make a very serious point by putting it in the form of a joke - and she kept people laughing, but they were also learning. I think she was a genius in that regard.
.
When you think about it, many of the most talented people die at an early age - Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Michael Jackson, Prince, and many others. It's as though they were just put on Earth to carry out their tasks, and then they move on. I think that was the case with your mother, to produce excellence in you, Kai, and all of her  children, and then she move on - and when I think about it, she also influenced me to promote her philosophy. If you'll notice, after awhile she simply laid back and let me do all the lecturing to you guys - and a close review of my writing has Val all over it. Maybe that's what she had in mind when she encouraged me to write.

.
But as sweet as Val was, she was no pushover. She was athletic, strong, and she had a temper. One night I came stumbling in about 2 in the morning. I had been over her cousin’s house, whose husband had become a good friend of mine. We liked to drink, play chess, and listen to jazz together. But when I got home this particular night, Val was waiting for me, and she demanded to know where I’d been. I knew I had an innocent explanation, but being intoxicated, her anger not only struck me as funny, but flattering – “Ooooo, she’s jealous. She thinks I’m seeing another woman.”  So, I started to giggle. But she mistook my giggling for mocking her. Then, before I knew it she was all over me, and shouting, “Where you been, fool! Where you been!” She started beating on me and slamming me against the wall until she beat me sober enough to get her off of me and pin her down on the bed to explain. And then a short phone substantiated what I’d said. She was so contrite that she started crying, how worried she was and what she thought. But I already knew and realize I could have spared her all that concern with a simple phone call. But thereafter, we had one of the most loving nights of our marriage.
.
But she told her mother about the episode, so naturally, it seeped out into family folklore – and on both sides of the family. So, one day I was over Val’s mother’s house drinking with “Fly”, Val’s stepfather, and a few others. During our discussion Fly and I had a friendly disagreement over politics, and he said, “Don’t be getting’ smart with me, boy! I’ll call Val in here and have her whop your ass again. The story had obviously been well circulated even outside the family, because everybody fell-out laughing. I even had to laugh, because for a minute Val was getting into my ass.
.
Val ended up relating the episode to a radio psychologist who was advising people that if they ever got into a physical altercation with their mate, they should dump them immediately, because it will never end. Val told her, our altercation happened over 20 years ago, and we haven't laid a hand on one another since. Thereafter, the psychologist went to a commercial, and when she returned she changed the subject.
.
The bottom line is, sometimes people trip, and if they’re good people they learn from it. In this case, Val learned not to fly off the handle based on assumptions, and I learned that simply being thoughtful can prevent conflicts, and through example, we past that along to you.
.
That's how your mother made her influence felt. She didn't lecture like I  tend do, she taught through example. That's why looking back on my life I have to scratch my head when I think of the impact that your mother had on me over the years, and I didn’t even feel the change. She always made me feel like I was running things, while I now know she was in full control. It’s like she indoctrinated me with her love, charm, and intelligence, and then flipped me into auto pilot and kicked back and watched me be a father.
.
ME AND MY BABIES
I know that now, because I feel like a lump of coal who produced a treasure trove of diamonds, and I don't have a clue where all that excellence came from. But now I do – Val let me raise you and Kai, while at the same time, she was busy raising all of us through example. She saw her job as keeping us all focused, and that's the key to your excellence - focus.
.
Focus is the key. Your mother somehow knew that focus was the key to excellence, so she alway kept me focused on raising you and Kai. I'm sure you remember that when you were kids, I never ran the street or hung out with any "road dawgs". It was all about you. It was about focus, and your mother saw to it that you were focused on what you were learning. You didn't have to learn about the street or drugs on the street, because I knew all about it, and I taught you what I knew. So when you became teenagers, you weren't intrigued by subject, or felt the urge to experiment. As a result, we became a family unit without any outside influences. And you were always treated as equals, not as kids. That kept you focused on what it meant to be an adult, so you didn't have to waste time learning it after you became an adult. You were ready to hit the ground running. We used to even vote on family decisions.
.
You became so used to interacting with us as adults, we had to pressure you to go out and hang with the other kids. You'd rather hangout and trip with us. And when you were 11 and 12 years old, Kai said, "We don't need no babysitter." The babysitter used to try to treat you like kids, and you weren't into that. So we simply gave you the keys to the house, and we never looked back - and we didn't have to. When we got home from work, your homework was done, and you were kicked back either watching television, or playing video games.
.

That was the influence your mother had on all of us. She let me do all the lecturing and philosophizing (while she rolled her eyes and giggled along with you), but she always quietly saw to it that we all remained focused on the big picture. And then at night when we went to bed, she'd lecture me on how I handled various situations - "Eric, you spent 20 minutes telling them about things they already know. Save your lectures for when it's necessary." When I got that lecture I knew she'd been talking to Kai - I found out early on that they'd become allies like Val and my mother had when we were kids, so I knew that MO well. So, our home was a full democracy, right down to the corruption. On serious issues, Kai and your mother would often bribe you to go along with them. I remember thinking at the time, "That little turncoat. He must be a Republican. He'll go along with anything for chili dog."
.
VAL ON GRANDSON'S
CHEST.
THAT SAYS IT ALL.
So, as I wish you a Happy Birthday, I can't help but think about your mother, and how her unintrusive influence has brought excellence into all our lives. She dragged me off the street and made me a better man and responsible father, and her thoughtful influence served to make everyone of her babies steppers. The only thing I don't understand is, why was I left here alone to take credit for it. She never got credit for all she'd contributed to this family. In spite of the fact that she was the one who encouraged me to learn to write, and when my book was published she threw a big party, she suddenly died a week before the publisher sent me the printed copies. What's up with that!!!?
.
But at any rate, on our baby boys birthday, I want to you to know that I'll never forget what you've done to contribute to the excellence of all our babies, Val. So, I want to thank you, baby, for bringing so much love, happiness, literacy and pride into our lives - and by the way, I also want you to know that I know it was you that made that knife jump out the sink and scared that sister out of my motor home. You almost caused that poor woman to have a heart attack. That was naughty. She was just there to sell me some clothes.
.
Eric, I wrote the following when you and Kai were in high school, and I want to thank you both, for making it come true:

LEGACY
.
Neither scholar nor the head of state,
The most common of men seems to be my fate;
A life blistered with struggle and constant need,
As my legacy to man I bequeath my seed.
.
More fertile, more sturdy these ones than I,
This withered old vine left fallow and dry;
The nectar of their roots lie dormant still,
But through their fruit I'll be revealed.
.

DEXTER GORDON AND A SWINGIN' AFFAIR

Beneath the Spin*Eric L. Wattree

EXCELLENCE IS THE KEY TO BLACK EQUALITY
.

DEXTER GORDON AND A SWINGIN' AFFAIR

A SWINGIN’ AFFAIR
.
I
was told as a child
Blacks had no worth,
Not a nickel’s worth of dimes.
I believed that myth
‘Til Dex rode in
With his ax
In double time.
.
His
horn was soarin’,
The changes flyin’,
His rhythm right on time;
My heart
Beat with the pleasure
Of new-found pride,
Knowing,
His blood
Flowed through mine.
.
Dex
Took the chords
The keyboard played,
And danced around each note;
Then shuffled ’em
Like a deck of cards,
And didn’t miss a stroke.
.
B minor 7 with flatted 5th,
a half diminished chord,
He substituted a lick in D,
Then really began to soar.
.
He tipped his hat
To Charlie Parker,
and quoted
Trane with Miles,
Then paid his homage to
Thelonious Monk,
In Charlie Rouse’s style.
.
He took
a Scrapple From The Apple,
Then went to Billie’s Bounce,
The rhythm section, now on fire,
But he didn’t budge an ounce.
.
He just
dug right in
to shuffle again,
This time
A Royal Flush,
Then lingered a bit
Behind the beat,
Still smokin’
But in no rush.
.
Then he
doubled the time
just like this rhyme,
in fluid 16th notes,
tellin’
Charlie and Lester,
“your baby boy, Dexter’s,
on top of the
bebop you wrote.”
.
Wailin’
like a banshee,
this prince of saxophone,
His ballads dripped of honey,
His Arpeggios were strong.
.
Callin’ on his idles,
Ghost of Pres’
within in the isles,
smiling at his protege,
At the peak of this new style.
.
His tenor
Drenched of Blackness,
And all the things we are–
Of pain, and pleasure,
And creative greatness
Until his final bar.

HERE’S WHAT DONALD TRUMP REALLY THINKS ABOUT ISRAEL AND THE JEWS

Beneath the Spin*Eric L. Wattree

EFFICIENT THOUGHT IS THE KEY TO BLACK EQUALITY
.

HERE’S WHAT DONALD TRUMP REALLY THINKS ABOUT ISRAEL AND THE JEWS

In betrayal of his gross ignorance of simple 8th grade civics, Trump tweeted, "It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!"
.
In response, the state of Israel - the United States' number one recipient of foreign aid - has denied two members of the United States Congress entry into the country as part of a congressional fact-finding delegation. The Democrats should cancel the trip entirely in response.
.
The only thing these two members of congress were guilty of was speaking out in accordance with American ideals, but Trump neither knows, nor care, anything about such "nonsense"; all he knows about is what's in the best interest of Donald Trump - and what's so ironic about it is, a large part of his most enthusiastic supporters have a passionate hatred of not only Zionists and Israel, but ALL Jews as a people. Yet, Trump says these bigots are "very good people".
.
Glaring evidence of both Trump's views, and the views of the base he reaches out to towards Jews was clearly demonstrated during his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton, where he posted a picture of Hillary next to a Jewish symbol and a pile of money, suggesting that Hillary was in collusion with the Jews to takeover America. Thus, Trump cares absolutely nothing about either Israel, or Jews as a whole. All he cares about – as usual - is how they can benefit him personally.
.
Trump will turn on anything or anybody - even American democracy - to promote his short-term advantage. So the only reason he's currently supporting the Israeli Zionists is because they're at war with Muslims (or non-White people), and as far as he's concerned, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. But Trump tends to go whichever way the wind blows in his favor, so when his bigoted base runs out of foes of color, they'll begin to focus on the Jews, and Trump will be leading the charge.
.
So Natanyahu is making a serious error in hitching his wagon to this self-serving demagogue. When Trump goes down - and he's definitely going down, and if he loses the next election, even to prison - America's not going to forget this unholy alliance.
.
Israel's close connection with a fascist like Trump is causing it to be viewed in a much different light by many Americans. How could such an association be remotely possible considering Jewish history? The Zionists are betraying their own convictions, and based on the very same argument that Hitler used - "to insure the security of the nation".
.
Thus, Netanyahu is causing the state of Israel to be irreversibly tarnished by its dance with the Devil - and ironically, a Devil who has absolutely no genuine respect for either the state of Israel, or the Jewish diaspora anywhere in the world. He's also allowing Israel to be used to satisfy Donald's short-term interest, and causing the state to take on the baggage of the world's passionate antipathy towards Trump in the process.

THE AMERICAN PROPAGANDA MACHINE REVISITED

BENEATH THE SPIN • ERIC L. WATTREE
EFFICIENT THOUGHT IS THE KEY TO BLACK EQUALITY
THE AMERICAN PROPAGANDA MACHINE REVISITED

Donald Trump’s idiotic response to “The Squad” (Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Rashida Tlaib) saying, "They should go back where they came from", and his criticism of Colin Kaepernick for having the audacity to peacefully protest the brutal killing of innocent Black people by rogue cops, once again betrays his astounding ignorance of what America is all about. The very flag that he’s claiming these people are disrespecting is a symbol of the American tradition of speaking out against injustice, and his attempt to deny Americans that right threatens to render the American flag just another piece of cloth. America was founded on protesting injustice. What IS un-American, however, is being too cowardly to defend that tradition, as Trump was during the Vietnam War, but Trump has a genius for seeing everybody's shortcomings but his own.
.
Thus, Trump’s vision of what it means to be an American is based on racist latter-day propaganda that's grounded in ugliness, bitterness, bigotry and greed rather than the founding fathers' vision of freedom and justice for all. The man is not only an ignorant buffoon, but a smudge on the ideal of American democracy - and anyone who follows his lead is not only un-American, but certainly can’t claim to be a Christian.
.
Yet, many on the "Christian" Right claim that Trump was sent here by God. Well, maybe he

was, because we're told that God works in mysterious ways. So maybe God sent Trump here to test their faith. He's clearly demonstrating, for example, that in spite of the fact that Vice President Mike Pence has been going around all of his adult life bragging about how much he loves the Lord, he's now passionately embracing this evil, lying, Herod-like infidel instead. So it is now crystal clear that while Pence may love the Lord, he doesn't love him nearly as much as he loves the idea of possibly becoming President of the United States; and while right-wing "Christians" claim to love their neighbor, they have absolutely no problem with putting them in cages. So it's going to be quite interesting to see them trying to justify their faux Christian propaganda before God.
.
MIKE PENCE - A "CHRISTIAN" TOADY
These people better hope that Christianity is a myth, because if it's not, they're all going to burn in Hell throughout eternity. You can't be mean-spirited, evil and bigoted towards others and then claim to follow Jesus:
"It's not that I hate everyone who doesn't look, think, and act like me - it's just that God does."
They're trying to use the Bible to justify their bigotry, just like they used it to justify their brutal atrocities during slavery. So if there's any justice in the world, they're going to pay for their gross hypocrisy dearly.
.
Muslims are also our neighbors, but because we covet their oil, the American propaganda machine tells us that Muslims are a hostile people who hate American freedom so they must be invaded "to protect our national interest". But the most cursory examination reveals that the evidence that claim is based upon is highly flawed. Yet, the American people have been persuaded that it's true. That suggests that the American people have learned absolutely nothing from our experience with the Nazis, and it also suggests that the biggest threat to America is the propaganda machine itself.
.
The primary argument against the claim that Muslims are inherently hostile toward America is the fact that we had absolutely no problem with Muslims at all until we - Western "Christians" and Zionist - began our imperialistic excursion into the Middle East. Prior to that time Muslims were content to be left alone to practice their religion in their own lands. And there's another thing that should be glaringly obvious to everyone - Muslims are not invading our land, we're invading theirs. So who's the hostile aggressor? Thus, the pattern is always the same, regardless to whether we're talking about Vietnam, Iraq, or here in the inner cities - the White establishment ALWAYS finds a way to justify their self-serving aggression towards others, and ALWAYS while carrying a Bible in their hand - "Dear Lord, please help us to kill more of them than they do us".
.
So when we consider Muslim hostility towards America we must keep two things in
mind. First, we need to consider all the hell we raised over the loss of 3000 citizens during 9/11.  If we've been impacted to our core over the loss of 3000 Americans, how do you think Muslims feel over the loss of hundreds of thousands of their people resulting from the unjust and illegal invasion of Iraq? And again, we must remember that while we're quick to call Muslims aggressors, we're invading their countries, they're not invading ours.
.

And with respect to our accomplice, the state of Israel, why are they persecuting the Palestinians? The Palestinians weren’t responsible for the holocaust, it was the Germans. So why aren’t they demanding a Jewish homeland in Germany? I’ll tell you why – because the Germans are White and they weren’t having it, so the Zionists chose an easier mark. The Zionists came to the conclusion that the Germans were not going to tolerate their nonsense for a minute, and besides, they'd had their fill with the Germans, so they decided to go and steal the land of non-White people. Prior to deciding upon Palestine, they had their eye on Zaire, Africa.
.
In 1948 America agreed with the Zionists, so now, the American propaganda machine dictates that it’s unpatriotic to criticize Israel. There was even a
bill pending in congress attempting to make it illegal to even request information regarding boycotting the state of Israel.
.
According to the ACLU, Sen. Ben Cardin proposed legislation that would “bar U.S. persons from supporting boycotts against Israel, including its settlements in the Palestinian occupied territories conducted by international governmental organizations, such as the United Nations and the European Union. It would also... include penalties for simply requesting information about such boycotts. Violations would be subject to a minimum civil penalty of $250,000 and a maximum criminal penalty of $1 million and 20 years in prison. The Israel Anti-Boycott Act (S. 720) would impose civil and criminal punishment on individuals solely because of their political beliefs about Israel and its policies.” The bill is not only unconstitutional, but un-American.
.
Why can't Israel be criticized for committing atrocities just like any other country? Considering the gross atrocities it's committing against the Palestinian people, they
certainly deserve it. Israel is currently engaged in the Manifest Destiny II. Based on their behavior Netanyahu and Israeli right-wing Zionists should be ashamed to face the world; they’re making a mockery of their very own outrage over the Nazi holocaust. Is murder only evil when it’s committed against Jews, and how is the atrocities they're committing against the Palestinian people any different from what Hitler did to the Jews during WWII? The answer is, there's absolutely no difference  - they just haven't heated up the ovens, at least, not yet. That's all Rep. Ilhan Omar is trying to point out - and it has nothing to do with either her lack of love for America, or hatred of Jews. Yet, Dubious Donnie (Putin's puppet), has demanded that she go back where she came from.
.
And now Trump has gone even farther. They are a disgrace!" In response, the state of Israel, the United States' number one recipient of foreign aid, has denied two members of congress entry into the country as part of a congressional fact-finding delegation. The Democrats should cancel the trip in response.
.
All these two members of congress were doing was speaking out and reflecting American ideals, but Trump neither know, nor care, anything about such "nonsense"; all he knows about is what's in the best interest of Donald Trump - and what's so ironic about it is, a large part of his most enthusiastic supporters have a passionate hatred of not only Zionists, but ALL Jews. Yet, Trump says they're very good people. And during his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton he posted a picture of Hillary next to a Jewish symbol and a pile of money, suggesting that Hillary was in collusion with the Jews to takeover America. Thus, Trump cares absolutely nothing about either Israel, or Jews as a whole. All he cares about - as usual - is how they can benefit him personally.
.
The truth is, right-wing Israeli Zionists need to stop being such fascist hypocrites, and Trump - and all the other politicians who are criticizing them - need to stop trying to use the Palestinian massacre as a tool to garner political advantage. Criticizing the Israeli atrocities waged against the Palestinian people is neither unpatriotic, nor anti-Semitic - it's anti-Zionist, and there's a big difference. God didn't promise any plot of land to anyone. So in order for true justice to prevail, the United States should go to the aid of the Palestinian people just like we went to the aid of the Jewish people during WWII - and we certainly shouldn't be financing that atrocity or denying members of congress their right to the freedom of speech. Donald Trump would recognize that fact if he weren't an autocratic-prone, self-serving  illiterate.

Atomic Bomb victimBut both right-wing Israelis, and right-wing Americans tend to believe that the lives of their people (at least, their White people) are more valuable than the lives of others. When Americans are killed we never stop talking about it. It, literally, goes down in the history books as an unspeakable atrocity frowned upon by God. But when Americans or Israelis kill innocent men, women and children in other countries, we simply say, "Oops, sorry 'bout that", then expect the people to forget about it and go on about their lives.
.
But American politicians must adhere to the propaganda machine just to survive in this political environment. Look at what Obama said about Bush and Cheney's war crimes - "We want to look forward, not back." What the hell was he talking about? Bush killed close to a million people for nothing more than the theft of oil and the benefit of Dick Cheney's Haliburton, so how can we expect to dismiss the killing of a million men, women, and children by simply saying, let's let bygones be bygones? One can only wonder if Obama would have taken that position if his family had been among the million killed? Somehow, I doubt it.
.
It was that one remark that opened my eyes regarding politicians in general. While I consider Obama the best that we've had, he’s a politician nevertheless, so we must closely watch ALL politicians and not allow ourselves to get caught up in a personality cult. While Barack Obama was one of our greatest presidents, he was far from an angel – none of them are. You can’t be an angel and survive in their business, so his remark served to remind me that Obama is also the product of the propaganda machine - he was a captive of it just like the others. So, while I continue to admire Obama (mainly, because he was the best among viable alternatives), I never allow myself to forget that even though he's an impressive man, he's also a politician, not the Messiah. Thus, America must never forget that politicians are not our leaders, they’re our employees. So, it is up to us to set the moral standards of this nation, and that entails clear and objective thought when it comes to the just treatment of others, including our own citizens.
.

Americans must recognize that life is not a football game. It's not good enough to just pull for our side, regardless to whether we're talking about the nation, political parties, or individual politicians. We must always pull for justice, regardless of whose political ox it gores.  Because if we continue to allow the propaganda machine to cloud our minds to the truth, none of us will be safe. It's Muslims, Blacks and Hispanics who are being demonized today, but tomorrow it may be Jews, activists, the entire middle class, or Eskimos. Whatever group deemed necessary to demonize to meet our rulers' needs can be targeted overnight. And yes, I said rulers, because those who control our minds, control our destiny.
.
The propaganda machine is an insidious device, because it tells us what we want to
hear, and it helps us to hide what we don't want to see, so it has the seductive properties of a drug. Take the issue of terrorism for example. Terrorism is defined as the killing of innocent noncombatants for political gain. Keeping that definition in mind, we must not forget that we are the ONLY country on Earth who has ever dropped an atomic bomb on not one, but two cities, killing and maiming hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children indiscriminately. So, as horrible as 9/11 was, the horror of that atrocity makes 9/11 look insignificant.
.
But by accepting the fact that we committed such a horrible atrocity is inconsistent with the image that we so passionately embrace of "That shining light on the hill," so our propaganda machine swung into action. It helped us to justify the action by convincing us that we only did it to save the lives of thousands of American troops. But there's a very serious flaw in that argument. By embracing it, it affirms that we also accept the fact that there are times when terrorism is justified. Thus, by our own definition, the United States is, in fact, a terrorist state. Thus, the fact is, the only difference between Muslim terrorists and American, or "Christian," terrorists is that we have a much more efficient delivery system.
.
But now, our hypocrisy is coming back to bite us. Under Donald Trump the propaganda machine has been revved up to commit crimes against the American people themselves, by demonizing our national institutions, and undermining our legal system.
.
Republican Rep. Steve Scalise said, “Even after a 2-year, $25 million dollar witch hunt
and a disastrous Mueller Hearing, impeaching @realDonaldTrump is still the only thing Democrats can focus on. There was no collusion! They need to let it go and get back to work for the American people.”
.
That was, and is, total nonsense, so it is essential that the American people waste no time in running these traitorous scoundrels out of office. Every time they open their mouths a lie drips out. Even their fellow Republicans can see it. Five Republican members of the house have chosen to retire just this week, and nine this year, rather than run for re-election under Donald Trump. Rep. Will Hurd, the only Black Republican congressman in the House of Representatives, just announced that he would not be seeking re-election. And as for the $25 million that Rep. Scalise was complaining so vociferously about spending on the investigation into Trump's criminality, that's chump change. Trump has spent $106.25 million just playing golf. So these people are trying to delude the American people with smoke and mirrors.
.
Now, before Trump supporters get all upset and start jumping up and down shouting that I'm un-American, please remember that truth and justice is the American way - and what I've just told you is both true and just. What I've said here is not simply my opinion. Every word I've written is verifiable and based on truth and logic - and like mathematics, truth and logic don't lie.
