REPUBLICAN MEMBERS OF CONGRESS STORM HEARING ROOM TO PREVENT TESTIMONY

REPUBLICAN MEMBERS OF CONGRESS STORM HEARING ROOM TO PREVENT TESTIMONY

After an unsuccessful attempt to obstruct congress from carrying out its constitutional responsibility of oversight by trying to block his staff from testifying, President Donald Trump urged the GOP to “get tougher and fight”. He said, “Some GOP lawmakers are great fighters. But they have to get tougher and fight because the Democrats are trying to hurt the Republican Party for the (2020) election.”
.
Trump has good reason for wanting the Republicans to fight, because the testimony being laid out against him is devastating, and near certain to lead to his impeachment in the house. One credible witness after another is providing testimony that strongly suggest that Trump was withholding badly needed assistance to the Ukraine that was authorized by congress until they agreed to initiate an investigation into Hunter and Joe Biden, his likely political rival in the 2020 election. The picture being painted is that Trump was withholding nearly $400 million in American taxpayer money authorized by congress to help Ukraine defend against a Russian invasion for his own political gain in the 2020 election, and to the benefit of Vladimir Putin. So the testimony strongly suggest that Trump was using our money to benefit himself and Vladimir Putin.
.
The
GOP is no longer even trying to dispute the facts; now they’ve resorted to engaging in silly stunts and distractions in an attempt to disrupt the investigative hearing. They claim that the Democrats are holding a secret hearing where Trump is not being allowed due process. That’s a sham. There are Republicans on the committee with equal rights to question the witnesses – but instead of challenging the facts, many of them were involved in the storming of the hearing room to disrupt the proceedings. The committee is merely gathering facts like a grand jury – which Trump tried to obstruct by ordering witnesses not to appear or produce evidentiary documents. After the investigation, the impeachment debate will be public, and if he is impeached by the house, then he’ll also be provided due process in his trial in the senate.
.
So the bottom line is, Trump and the GOP are engaging in every disruptive device imaginable to keep the facts from being revealed, and Speaker Pelosi shouldn’t tolerate this blatant assault on our democracy. She should have the Sergeant at Arms arrest these people, put them in jail, fine them each $10,000 a day, and have them striped of their security clearances for Inherent Contempt of Congress. This is deadly serious business. These people mounted a direct assault on the United States Constitution, so it shouldn’t be tolerated for a second.
.
This stunt proves that Trump and the GOP are without limits and they’ll do whatever they think they can get away with to save Trump. So this is just the beginning.  Trump is already using language like “coup”, “treason” and implying that the people who informed on him should be executed, so next he’ll have his horde of ignorant bigots rioting in the street.
.
Can you even imagine ANY judge in the United States tolerating  these rogue Republicans storming his or her courtroom like they did congress!!!? Absolutely not. They’d all go to jail. Well, congress is a coequal branch of government and deserving of the very same level of respect.
.
Vox reported, “On Wednesday, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit heard Trump’s appeal of Marrero’s decision. During that hearing, Trump lawyer William Consovoy confirmed just how far his argument goes. In response to a question by appellate Judge Denny Chin, Consovoy argued that Trump is immune from criminal investigation even if he were to shoot someone on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue.” And now Trump has the FBI under criminal investigation by his corrupt attorney general, Barr, for investigating him and initiating the Mueller investigation, which also found evidence of his criminality. In addition, he's filed a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James to prevent her from turning his state tax returns over to congress (He's got his hands full there).
.
Trump envies Putin, and he’s trying his best to turn the United States into Russia. So at best, Trump is an ignorant and uninformed spoiled brat, or at worst, a budding autocratic tyrant, so we’d better start treating him like one - him, and, his Republican storm troopers.

A MESSAGE TO SPEAKER PELOSI
.
EITHER DO YOUR JOB BY STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE TO DEFEND OUR DEMOCRACY, OR GET THE HELL OUT THE WAY AND MAKE ROOM FOR SOMEBODY WITH A BACKBONE.  AMERICA IS AT WAR WITH A DOMESTIC ENEMY. THIS IS NO TIME FOR WOBBLY KNEES.

A MESSAGE TO PELOSI: EITHER DO YOUR JOB, OR GET THE HELL OUT THE WAY FOR SOMEBODY WITH SOME BACKBONE

A MESSAGE TO PELOSI:
EITHER DO YOUR JOB, OR GET THE HELL OUT THE WAY FOR SOMEBODY WITH SOME BACKBONE

So once again Donald Trump has thumbed his nose at you, and what’s your response? Talk, talk, talk. You're proving yourself to be the most weak-kneed Speaker in American history - and at the very worst time in history. The founding fathers wrote the Constitution in anticipation of a moment like this, and here you are running your mouth, but afraid to use it. They must be rolling in their graves.  I'm just glad you weren't around during the Civil Rights Movement - you'd still be talkin' while Black people were being lynched.
.
Now don't get me wrong, I've wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but at this point it seems that you’re either completely clueless regarding your own congressional power, afraid of Trump, in collusion with him, or all three. I could understand your strategy of wanting to educate the public through hearings before dropping the hammer on him, but you're not even doing that. You're sitting around letting him tell you - and through extension, the entire legislative branch of government - to go to hell.
.
You don’t have to keep begging, sniffling, and wasting time in court against Trump; congress is an coequal branch of government, so you can simply invoke congress’s power of Inherent Contempt. Invoking inherent contempt allows congress to have the sergeant-at-arms arrest a person who defies congress on the spot, and you don't have to set foot into a courtroom. You can also fine a person as much as $10,000 a day until they come into compliance.

INHERENT CONTEMP PROCEDURE

Under this process, the procedure for holding a person in contempt involves only the chamber concerned. Following a contempt citation, the person cited is arrested by the Sergeant-at-Arms for the House or Senate, brought to the floor of the chamber, held to answer charges by the presiding officer, and then subjected to punishment as the chamber may dictate (usually imprisonment for punishment, imprisonment for coercion, or release from the contempt citation). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contempt_of_Congress
.
Attorney General Barr should have long since gone to jail. That would have sent the administration a firm message, and it would have also sent a message to potential witnesses that the White House wouldn't be able to shield them from the wrath of congress for their failure to cooperate with congress's constitutional right of oversight. They would have had personal skin in the game. Thus, if you would have had Barr arrested for defying congress early on, you wouldn't be having the problem of stonewalling that you're currently wasting time with today. So why aren’t you doing that!!!? Please, tell me.
.
Speaker Pelosi, the American people are fed-up with your wobblin' knees and pitiful whimpering. Your weakness is crippling our democracy. Again, you act like you're afraid of this bully of a president - and a bully is exactly what he is. If you called his bluff he'd collapse like a house of cards. Trump will try anything to see what he can get away with, but like most bully's, he's nothing but a coward with a big mouth. He clearly demonstrated that when he limped into the draft board complaining that his feet hurt to avoid Vietnam. So you need to either do your job, or get the hell out of the way for someone with a backbone who will.

TRUMP IS DRAGGING AMERICAN DEMOCRACY INTO A LITTER BOX

Beneath the Spin*Eric L. Wattree

Contrary to popular belief, Black people don’t have a moral obligation to be stupid

TRUMP IS DRAGGING AMERICAN DEMOCRACY INTO A LITTER BOX
YET, CONGRESS IS FAILING TO USE ITS MOST POWERFUL WEAPON AGAINST HIM

At this point even Donald Trump supporters recognize that he has the self-serving and anti-intellectual immaturity of an 8-year-old. Due to his childish irresponsibility, in just over two years he’s caused the United States to go from the most respected nation on Earth to the laughingstock of the world. And so far, the United States Congress has become complicit in his dysfunction by allowing him to drag the nation into a litter box.  Clear evidence of that is in the short time that Trump has occupied the Oval Office, the nation has gone from engaging in serious, if often disingenuous, political debate, to indulging in childish name-calling, spitball fights, and blatant obstruction of justice over Twitter. That’s a horrible image for a once great nation.
.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tried to justify congress’ inaction by pointing out that Trump is trying to goad congress into premature impeachment proceedings in order to galvanize his base in preparation for the 2020 election, and since the GOP is in control of the senate, any attempt to remove him from office would fail at this point. So the smart thing to do is to hold hearings on the Mueller Report and educate the public on why Trumps impeachment is necessary.
.
So, while Pelosi has an excellent plan, Trump is stonewalling her efforts by blocking all congressional subpoenas for documents and witnesses for congressional hearings, which makes it impossible to educate the public – at least, in a timely manner.
.
Trump has declared that he is not going to cooperate with congress' constitutional right of oversight, and he has taken it upon himself to overrule the United States Constitution by declaring that any further investigations into his personal conduct is unnecessary, completely dismissing congress' constitutional right to oversight, and his Attorney General, William Barr – who’s supposed to be representing the people, not Trump - has declared that since a sitting president can't be indicted, neither can he be investigated. So, essentially, Donald Trump has placed himself above the law, and taken over the government.
.
While both Trump, and Barr, know that this tactic is illegal, they’re trying to force congress to waste time by having to go to court. Trump’s betting his presidency, and freedom, on the hope that he can make it to the 2020 election, and just maybe, the GOP will be able to retake congress and kill the investigations into his criminality all together. Thus, congress seems to be between a rock and a hard place.
.
So, what’s next to impossible to understand is, why isn’t congress invoking all of its powers to fight this blatant assault on our democracy? They’re spewing a lot of tough sounding language, but they're completely ignoring their most powerful weapon – their power of “Inherent Contempt", which allows them - as congress - to simply arrest a person, or fine them $25,000 a day, until they comply. Now, that would get a person's attention. It would make me show up a day early.

INHERENT CONTEMPT
.
The National Constitutional Center states in it’s publication, Constitutional Daily, that “Justice Willis Van Devanter made perhaps the most famous statement of these powers in McGrain v. Daugherty, a 1927 Supreme Court decision about Mally S. Daugherty, the brother of former Attorney General Harry Daugherty.  A select Senate committee issued a subpoena for Daugherty to testify and to also surrender records from an Ohio bank. When Daugherty refused to comply after a second subpoena, the Senate passed a resolution issuing a warrant and authorizing a Senate deputy to take Daugherty into custody. Daugherty filed a habeas petition against his detention. A lower court ruled that the Senate exceeded its powers by detaining Daugherty, freeing him. However, the Supreme Court upheld his conviction, holding that under the Constitution, Congress has the power to compel witnesses and testimony “to obtain information in aid of the legislative function.”
.
“Each house of Congress has power, through its own process, to compel a private individual to appear before it or one of its committees and give testimony needed to enable it efficiently to exercise a legislative function belonging to it under the Constitution,” Van Devanter said. 'This has support in long practice of the houses separately, and in repeated Acts of Congress, all amounting to a practical construction of the Constitution.
'”
.
It's been reported by several news organizations that Attorney General Bar has even taken to mocking Speaker Pelosi by jokingly asking her after he ignored a congressional subpoena, "Did you bring the handcuffs?" So, for congress to do anything less than utilize all of its Constitutional powers is to invite disrespect of congressional authority by both the people involved, and the public at large, because it makes congress look like they’re unsure of their own authority. The speaker should have Attorney General Barr locked up, because he's not only thumbing his nose at her, but at congress, the United States Constitution, and the American people.

DONALD TRUMP: THE WORLD’S MOST LYING, CORRUPT, AND INCOMPETENT BUSINESSMAN

The courts have just turned over Trump’s finances to congress. Trump wasn't trying to move Hell and Earth to keep that from happening for nothing. We're now gonna see what a corrupt fraud he is.
.
We're soon gonna find that Donald Trump is, hands down, the world's worst businessman. He's never started a business that wasn't an abject failure. Recent reports by the New York Times - with just a sliver of the information they have now - revealed that Trump's entire image was built on a lie. His father kept him afloat while he was alive by giving him over $400 million, towards the end, and after his father died, Donald went into bankruptcy 6 times (count 'em, SIX TIMES!!!). As a result, he couldn't get a loan from ANY bank in America. Then the Russians came to his rescue in order to use his name to do business and launder money - they even had an office in Trump Tower!!!

PREDICTION: We're about to find that all, or at least most, of Trump's so-called wealth is actually Russian money. Trump perpetuated a lie about how much of a bigshot and great businessman he was, and then used that lie to rent his name to the Russians. The Russians then hung out a shingle under it to launder money and commit crimes all over the world. The Russians have a phrase for a person like Trump - "a useful idiot."
.
Thus, this is a pivotal moment in American history and we're dealing with a world-class criminal in Donald Trump. So, the founding fathers expected congress to step up to the plate at a time like this. If they fail to do so, we can just flush our democracy down the toilet.
