A MESSAGE TO CRAIG ACOSTA – THE BLACK CONSERVATIVE

BENEATH THE SPIN • ERIC L. WATTREE

A MESSAGE TO CRAIG ACOSTA – THE BLACK CONSERVATIVE
.
I don’t really expect Craig Acosta to read this because it has far too many words in it for the typical Black conservative. But I thought I’d write it anyway, for the benefit of those of you who do read.
.

I’ve written several articles on the idiocy of Black conservatism. Now I have a prime example of why I call it idiocy, and exactly the kind of brainwashed ignorance that it entails. I was discussing this issue online with a guy by the name of Craig Acosta, of Glassboro, New Jersey, and he said the following:
.
Craig Acosta: “There is a concept in psychology called the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Most black people have a fixed mindset and when they encounter brothers and sisters with a growth mindset they say they're thinking/talking like white people...lol BTW...just cuz a person has conservative values does not make
CRAIG ACOSTA
them a Republican. I personally don't care about either party but I know the Democrats are pandering to their idiotic base with inane tactics trying to overthrow a sitting US president and using reasons that are about as realistic as unicorn farts and fairy dust. My brain cells hurt from that type shit.

.
“It pains me to say it...but I'm starting to realize most of y'all aren't intelligent enough to understand politics and when you are being manipulated by the media. Emotions has[sic] nothing to do with choosing a political representative. Understanding of economics does. If you don't understand that somebody has to pay for all the free shit the democrats promise...whether it's the middle class business and home owners, whether its from stupid taxes on straws and plastic bags, or your children and grandchildren...then you need to have your voting rights revoked because you're not responsible/informed enough.”
.
Right off the bat we can see why Craig is a conservative.  He immediately
began to indulge in inefficient thinking and false logic.  He said, “Most black people have a fixed mindset . . .” In other words, “All dogs have teeth, and my cat has teeth, therefore, my cat is a dog.”
.
What he’s doing here is profiling all Black people based on the way that Black people are portrayed in the media, or based on the profile of the most dysfunctional 10% of Black people in America - and notice how he separates himself from the rest of the Black population by referring to Black people as "y'all".  And further, he never once stops to consider that if White people were portrayed by the media in the same way, we’d think that all White people were barefoot Hillbillies. So it is clear that Craig has completely embraced the negative stereotype of Black people.
.
That, in turn, makes another thing quite clear - that Craig is a bligot (a Black bigot). That accounts for his mindset – “I’s not like the rest of dem fools, boss. I's got sense. I loves you.”
.
The few Black people with Craig’s mindset will eat turtle shit just for a pat on the head by a White man. They’re disgusting and weak, and bigots just love to trot them out to embarrass the rest of the Black community.  While they're before the crowd dripping with sweat trying to espouse the White man's point of view, the man is standing behind them giggling with a look on his face that says, “You see how weak and idiotic you people are? Just listen to that idiot.” Yet, people like Craig think they're proving to the White man how enlightened they are. So, what Craig disparagingly refers to as Black people’s “fixed mindset”, is what most people call common sense, intelligence, and a backbone.
.
The fact is, the White establishment discovered when Black people were in slavery that we have some of the most creatively brilliant minds in the world. That’s one of the major reasons they passed laws making it illegal to teach Black people to read. It was also a major reason why they instituted Jim Crow laws after slavery, to keep the Black intellect in check. During Reconstruction Black people walked right out of the cotton fields into the halls of congress. And Frederick Douglass became one of the most brilliant writers and orators of his time.
.

In fact, Craig could benefit from one of the things that Douglass pointed out at the time. He said, "Knowledge makes a man unfit to be a slave."  So instead of going around espousing White supremacist propaganda, Craig would be much better served if he turned off Fox News and spent more time in pursuit of knowledge. Because while he may no longer be in shackles, his mind is still trapped on a Georgia cotton field.
.
If he took the time to educate himself instead of just regurgitating conservative talking points, he'd find that what we call “soul” is nothing less than Black intellectual creativity letting off steam, and there are many examples of our intellectual prowess throughout history.  He'd also learn that we wouldn’t even be able to communicate over these computers, or cell phones, if it were not for Black intellect. But most importantly, he'd learn not to make a damn fool of himself by trying to help the White man in his attempt to denigrate Black people's ability to think.

.
It may be a simplistic example, but it's no accident that we have Eskimos trying to rap; and over 60 years after his death some of the greatest musicians in the world are still trying to figure out what Charlie Parker was doing on his saxophone - and he was high as kite while he was doing it. Even when he couldn't standup, Bird could play the most complexed chord progressions in music at break-neck speed on his horn, and jazz is nothing short of an intricate form of mathematics with Max Roach on drums. Mathematics only has 10 numbers, but a chromatic scale has 12 notes - and through the creative manipulation of those notes, jazz musicians inspired American soldiers to defeat Hitler during WWII.  And while Black people are a minority in the United States, our creative intellect has influence the entire world through Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Rock, Rap, Soul, and even Country and Western music (White boy Blues).
.
But music is simply an example of our minds at play. It was also a Black mind that helped to send man to the Moon, but the White man will never tell Craig that – and they don’t have to worry about him opening up a book to find out on his own, because he's been indoctrinated to be allergic to knowledge. People like Craig have so much faith in the White man that they feel they can get any information worth having from Fox News.
.
So, Black conservatives need to recognize that as a direct result of having to face adversity, racism and bigotry from the time we open our eyes in the morning until the time we close them at night, Black people have become MORE rather than less. It’s a simple matter of evolution. Nature has provided us with the intellectual wherewithal to overcome adversity (look at the difference between Barack Obama and Donald Trump).  But when we fail to educate ourselves we tend to assume that "educated people" (meaning White people, for the most part) have a superior intellect, so we tend to discount our own. But there's a big difference between mere education and intellect, one is a sign on the door, and the other is the ability to think. People of true intellect are in a constant state of intellectual development, whether they're enrolled in a university or not. So, if Black people have a major shortcoming, it's learning to trust our own intellect. We must never assume that everybody can see what we see so clearly.
.
Some of the most powerful minds I've ever known held court while sitting on empty milk crates in the parking lots of ghetto liquor stores, while some of the weakest minds I've ever known roamed university campuses in search of credentials over knowledge.  And personally, when I look back over my own educational career, it's clear that I learned more from Sweet Willie on the streets of South Central Los Angeles than I did from any university professor I've ever known. Because Sweet Willie taught me the most important lesson of my life - that knowledge is free.
.
And the fact is, Black people have already demonstrated that we have an intellectual capacity that is at the very least, comparable to any group of people on Earth. Again, what we call "soul" is nothing less than intellectual creativity literally overflowing from neglect, and many of the things that White supremacists take credit for in this country are actually the product of Black minds. Again, it was the power of Black intellect that sent man to the Moon, but Fox News would never tell Craig that.
.
Ms. Katherine Johnson did the math necessary to send man into outer space, and then when they invented computers - also largely the product of a Black mind - NASA had Ms. Johnson check their calculations before they sent John Glenn in orbit around the Earth - John Glenn insisted upon it. And Ms. Johnson wasn't even a scientist, she was a school teacher.
.
But Craig didn’t have to know that or do any extensive research to find out that his conservative beliefs are ridiculous, all he had to do was open a dictionary. Absolute proof that any Black or poor White person who identifies with conservatism is uninformed is the fact that they obviously don’t understand the English language. The word “Liberal” means that the person has a liberated point of view and is dedicated to “Progress” in our national politics – thus, they are called “Progressives”. On the other hand, the very word “Conservative” means the person is dedicated to “Conserving” past traditions, including bigotry – both racial, and economic.
.
Obviously, none of the above has even occurred to Craig, yet, in an attempt
to sound learned, Craig tried to base his mindless theories on psychology.  My educational background is in psychology, so let’s take a look at the way psychology views the conservative mindset.  Psychology Today printed an article by Dr. Goali Saedi Bocci entitled, “Do Racism, Conservatism, and Low IQ Go Hand and Hand”, indicating that “Lower cognitive abilities predict greater prejudice through right-wing ideology.” And still another British study indicated that children with lower IQs tended to grow up to embrace conservative ideals:
.
“The study, published in the journal Psychological Science, examined data from two large-scale British studies, and found lower intelligence scores in childhood were predictors of greater racism in adulthood, which the researchers controversially explain is brought about by adopting right-wing ideologies.
.
“A secondary analysis of data from a U.S. study also showed those with poor abstract-reasoning skills were more likely to have anti-homosexual prejudice, partially linked to authoritarian attitudes.
.
“Lead researcher Gordon Hodson told LiveScience that the results of the study indicate a vicious cycle, in which people with low intelligence are drawn to socially conservative ideologies. In turn, those ideologies can contribute to prejudices.”
.
So I strongly suggest that Craig Acosta reassess his conservative ideals before he tries to look down his nose at Black people. And if he finds that trying to overcome his conservative predisposition is too steep a hill for him to climb, psychology is the very last place he should look to try to take refuge.  It’s no accident that conservatives are more often than not anti-intellectual and go out of their way to avoid science. The reason for that is simple - their ideological philosophy is based on pure stupidity.

DONALD TRUMP: HOW TO TURN GROSS INCOMPETENCE INTO A POLITICAL ASSET

Beneath the Spin * Eric L. Wattree

DONALD TRUMP: HOW TO TURN GROSS INCOMPETENCE INTO A POLITICAL ASSET
.
The advantage that Donald Trump has over the rest of us is that he has the mentality of a reckless 8-year-old, so by his very nature he’s prone to engaging in behavior that’s so unbelievably childish and foolhardy that the obvious goes completely unrecognized by most mature and clear-thinking adults. This is undoubtedly the case with his latest threat to pull out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Arms Treaty with Russia. Most Americans assume that the reasoning behind trump’s decision must involve such secret, specialized, and esoteric knowledge that the average American simply doesn’t possess the wherewithal to understand it. But that’s not the case at all. It’s just dumb.
.
Why would Trump do such a thing, tamper with an agreement designed to provide security to our European allies? And why threaten to pull out of the treaty entirely before making an attempt to fix any problems the U.S. may have with the agreement? The answer is clear - because like most other things Trump does, it hasn’t been thought through, he just decided to do it on a whim. That alone should send up a red flag that this is just another one of Donald Trump’s stunts designed to satisfy his constant craving for world attention, and for the benefit of no one other than Donald Trump.
.
That’s the problem with Trump, and what makes him such a threat to the entire world - he’s an uninformed egomaniac with the reckless tendency to flirt with world disaster in order to satisfy his own childish need for attention. Ordinarily, the checks and balances within the U.S. government would keep such a reckless individual in check, but the GOP is now in control of all three branches of government, and they had to choose between patriotism and responsible government, or money and power, and they’ve chosen the latter.
.
CNN reported that “Former State Department spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby, a CNN military and diplomatic analyst, explained that the treaty ‘wasn't designed to solve all of our problems with the Soviet Union,’ but was ‘designed to provide a measure of some strategic stability on the continent of Europe.’ He went on to say, ‘I suspect our European allies right now are none too happy about hearing that President Trump intends to pull out of it.’”
.
But Trump doesn’t care. He doesn’t care one bit about friendships and world alliances that go back generations, or even global stability. He doesn’t have the intelligence to understand the importance of such things. All Trump has the limited intellect to understand is the self-aggrandizement of Donald Trump, and what’s in his own best interest.
.
That explains why Trump sought “back-channel” communications with Russia.  Why would he want a secret channel of communications with our oldest foe that circumvents being monitored by our own security services?  I’ll tell you why - so he and his good friend, Vladimir, can play games with the minds of the world and the American people.  Did Trump discuss this latest move as a strategy against the claim that he’s Putin’s puppet with Vladimir prior to making this announcement?  Ordinarily, just the thought of that would seem ridiculous, but not when dealing with Donald Trump. He specializes in creating world crisis and then seemingly coming to the rescue at the very last minute to resolve the issue.
.
He demonstrated that tendency with Kim Jong-Un of North Korea. That's how he attempts to camouflage his gross incompetence. Instead of addressing real issues with complexities far beyond his ability to understand, he manufactures issues that he feels he can manipulate for self-serving photo ops, and then he struts around bragging about how much more brilliant he is than previous presidents. Thus, he’s not interested in making the world safer, he’s satisfied to just make it LOOK like he’s making it safer. Because in the final analysis, Trump is not interested in making the world better; everything he does is designed to make Trump look better.  For Donald Trump, the world is a reality show.
.
Illusion is Donald Trump’s life.  As a young man, he disguised his voice and called media outlets claiming to be much richer than he actually was. He’s a huckster and world-class fraud who engages in smoke and mirrors to promote his own image, which is of paramount importance to everything he does. He specializes in creating the illusion of competence where there is none.
.
As the spoiled son of an over-protective father who gave him everything and shielded him from failure, all Donald has ever had to think about was himself. But as a result of the bratty personality that engendered, he’s never had a friend or anyone who really cared about him (notice the look on Melania’s face whenever she’s forced to appear with him in public), and neither has he ever had to grow in order to achieve any personal accomplishment. That accounts for why he so desperately seeks love, admiration, and respect. That need comes out clearly in a video he appeared in during the Mss Universe Contest in Moscow where he asks, “Do you think Putin could become my new best friend?” It was disgusting and pathetic.
.
While Trump presents himself with blusterous swagger, he’s actually like a kid in a sandbox whose desperate to find ANYONE who will be his friend and actually like and respect him. That’s not a good trait for the supposed leader of the free world, because those who are willing to be Trump’s “friend” may not be friends with the American concept of freedom and democracy, and that fact is clearly revealing itself in the Khashoggi murder.  But then, why should Trump care? Khashoggi was a journalist for the Washington Post, so all his friend did was killed “an enemy of the people.”
.
Trump’s personal dysfunction also accounts for his intense hatred of Barack Obama. Trump would do absolutely anything to have the admiration, love and respect of Obama, and due to his bratty-little-rich-kid’s sense of entitlement, he thinks he has an absolute right to it - “How dare that pompous and uppity Sambo be held in higher esteem than me? Don’t the people realize that I’m rich, and I’m White!!!?”  That’s Trump’s attitude, a dysfunctional sense of entitlement on steroids.  So in order to address that delusional flaw in his character, he’s on a mission to undo everything President Obama has done for the American people, whether the abolishment hurts the American people and the world or not.
.
Nymag.com reported that “The obsessive hatred of Obama that grew out of Trump’s humiliation at the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner has blossomed into a perverse and often self-destructive mania. People both inside and outside the administration report that Trump will ultimately pick whatever option he believes is the negation of Obama’s legacy. A European diplomat indicated that Trump will ask: ‘Did Obama approve this?’ And if the answer is affirmative, he will say: ‘We don’t’” (http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2018/07/trump-putin-russia -collusion.html). That kind of mindless pettiness doesn’t even belong in a schoolyard sandbox, much less in high-stakes world decision-making. Trump’s childish attitude in this regard alone clearly demonstrates that he is far from fit to be President of the United States, because everything on his agenda is about himself, not the betterment of the American people.
.
In its article reviewing the book, “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump,” Psychology Today pointed out:
.
“John Gartner, Ph.D. is the founder of ‘Duty to Warn’ an organization intent on warning our country that we are in dire trouble due to our president’s mental instability. More than 60,000 mental health professionals have signed John’s petition, which states:
.
‘We, the undersigned mental health professionals, believe in our professional judgment that Donald Trump manifests a serious mental illness that renders him psychologically incapable of competently discharging the duties of President of the United States. And we respectfully request he be removed from office, according to article 4 of the 25th amendment to the Constitution, which states that the president will be replaced if he is ‘unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.’”
.
So whether or not Putin and Trump have actually managed to set up a back-channel means of communication is unclear (at least, to the public), but whether they have or not, it shouldn’t be lost on the American public that National security adviser John Bolton (another lunatic) has been dispatched to Moscow next week, and that could very well be where the details of the scam is finalized.  Trump has probably sent Bolton to Moscow wearing knee pads to apologize to Putin and convince him to go along with this farce. First, Trump will stomp around and bluster about how awful the treaty is and how dumb and incompetent all of the previous presidents to himself were to go along with it.  Then he’ll take the original agreement and change one comma to a semicolon and claim to have saved the world. That’s the childish idiocy of Donald Trump.
.
I know, it sounds far fetched, but is it?  Think about it - Trump has tried to water-down or failed to aggressively act on every Russian sanction since he’s been in office, and after lecturing and humiliating our oldest and closest allies before the world, he went to Helsinki and bowed down to Putin like the U.S. was a Russian colony. There’s a very good reason for that, and when America finally manages to wrap its head around it, it’ll become crystal clear why. A combination of Trump’s business failures, narcissism, flawed character and the Trump brand made him a prime target of the Russian mafia (KGB). After his 6 bankruptcies and his inability to obtain loans from any American banks, Russian oligarchs recognized that the failing Trump brand could be used as an invaluable asset to the Russian mafia for laundering money and doing business around the world following the collapse of the Soviet Union. So Trump has been playing words games about his relationship with the Russians. He said:
.
@realDonaldTrump
“For the record, I have no financial interests in Saudi Arabia (or Russia, for that matter). Any suggestion that I have is just more FAKE NEWS (of which there is plenty)!”
.
No, he doesn’t have any financial interests in Russia, but the Russians have plenty of financial interests in Trump businesses right here in the United States. In 2008 Donald Trump Jr. said, “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.” And in 2014 Eric Trump is quoted as bragging that “We don’t rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.” Russians bought 86 Trump properties - all in cash - totaling $109 million. So for nearly 30 years, the Russian mafia has literally been LIVING with Donald Trump.(https://www.metro.us/president-trump/russians-bought-86-trump-properties)

THE NARCISSISTIC INSTABILITY OF DONALD TRUMP IS A THREAT TO BOTH AMERICA AND THE WORLD? .

Beneath the Spin * Eric L. Wattree

THE NARCISSISTIC INSTABILITY OF DONALD TRUMP IS A THREAT TO BOTH AMERICA AND THE WORLD?
.
To a very large degree, Donald Trump’s presidency is, at best, quite a troubling phenomenon within our democracy. And he’s not just of serious concern to the average American citizen, but many who have played a significant role in keeping this nation free have chosen to speak out.  Retired Major General Paul Eaton is a perfect example.  The general has penned what many have referred to as a "jaw-dropping" response to Trump’s demand for a military parade. The general said the following:
.
“Donald Trump has continually shown himself to have authoritarian tendencies, and this is just another example. For someone who just declared it was ‘treasonous’ to not applaud him, and for someone who has, in the past, admired the tactics of everyone from Saddam Hussein to Vladimir Putin, it is clear that a military parade isn’t about saluting the military - it’s about making a display of the military saluting him.
.
“The military is not Donald Trump’s to use and abuse in this way.” The retired major general went on to say that the military would not be “reduced to stagecraft to prop up Donald Trump’s image.
.
“Unfortunately, we do not have a commander in chief, right now, as much as we have a banana republic strong man.”
.
In addition, Dr. Daniel Barkhuff, former navy seal and president of Veterans For Responsible Leadership, and  William Burke general counsel for VFRL, and both 2001 graduates of the United States Naval Academy spoke of Trump in an article in the Baltimore Sun.  They said,
“The sitting president [Trump]. . .  makes small choices guided by self-interest, ego, impulse and immediate self-gratification. He could never do what we ask our U.S. Naval Academy graduates to do. He is a physical coward, a liar and no leader at all."
.
And according to the Pew Research Center, here’s how our allies view the United States under Trump:
.
"Of 17 nations for which Pew Research Center has numbers for both 2016 and 2017, only three—Greece, Hungary, and Nigeria—saw a popular uptick for America. All the others were down, some dramatically: Australia (60 to 48), Canada (65 to 43), France (63 to 46), Germany (57 to 35), India (56 to 49), Italy (72 to 61), Japan (72 to 57), Kenya (63 to 54), Netherlands (65 to 37), Poland (74 to 73), South Africa (60 to 53), Spain (59 to 31), Sweden (69 to 45), and United Kingdom (61 to 50)." Thus, in the eyes of virtually the entire world (with the exception of Russia), Trump’s a disaster.
.
The problem is, Trump doesn’t seem to recognize that this is the United States of America, not “Trumpville,” and he’s so self-absorbed and emotionally unstable that he doesn’t seem to have any understanding of the fact that a president is suppose to work for the betterment of the nation, not for his own glorification. And this goes beyond a simple character flaw, it is so pronounced that it has become glaring apparent that he’s grappling with a serious psychological disability - and that’s not at all comforting considering the fact that he’s walking around with the nuclear football.
.
In it’s article reviewing the book, “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump,” Psychology Today pointed out:
And we respectfully request he be removed from office, according to article 4 of the 25th amendment to the Constitution, which states that the president will be replaced if he is ‘unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.’”
.
If the Republican Party  wasn't in control of congress, Trump would have long since been on his way out the door, but the GOP is so fixated on their agenda of further enriching the rich that they’re willing to place the entire future of humanity in jeopardy in pursuit of that short term goal. They’re demonstrating their complete and utter irresponsibility in service of greed in this regard, and if we manage to survive this episode, it behooves the American people to never forget it. Our grandparent’s generation learned their lesson regarding the Republican Party during the Great Depression. They wouldn't let a Republican anywhere near the White House.
.
During their era, Democrat, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected to office four times, and finally died in office on April 12, 1945. The Republicans had to promote the Twenty-Second Amendment to the Constitution limiting the president to two terms in office just to have even a remote chance of getting into office. But finally in 1953 they managed to elect the hero of WWII, Republican, Ike Eisenhower to office, but even he was a Republican in name only - in 1957 he sent troops into Little Rock, Arkansas to integrate a segregated school after Gov. Orval Faubus tried to prevent Black students from entering, and as his final act in office he warned America about the Military-Industrial Complex, the very people that Donald Trump and the Republican Party represent today.  They claim to want peace on Earth, yet they're the world's biggest arms dealer.
.
So in short, thanks to Republican bigotry and greed, every form of life on this planet is in the hands of a petulant egomaniac with serious psychological problems.  He’s desperate not to be humiliated but he’s now being hemmed in by the Mueller investigation and suffers from the emotional maturity of an eight year-old. I can’t think of any other scenario that could possibly be more horrifying.
