BE BACK -
AND THIS TIME WITH A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

NO HELPLESS WOMAN SHOULD EVER 

HAVE TO LOOK UP AT THIS BRUTAL FACE

I placed a comment online reflecting the title of this article, “Don’t get comfortable, Kavanaugh.  We’ll be back - and this time with a criminal investigation.”  In response, a gentleman online said, “Sadly, the whole point of this was about political power not rape. They aren't returning for him. It'll go away with time until the next political run.”

I beg to differ with that response. The Kavanaugh episode represents a unique moment in American history for several reasons. The first is because of the nature of women. The women of this country are mad as hell, and that’s bad news for the clueless GOP.  As a widower who was married for 34 years, I know for a fact, that women don't forget. My sweet and loving wife, Val, made me pay, in my late forties, for stunts I pulled when we were teenagers.  She’d say,  "Do you remember the time when . . .?”  Due to my masculine arrogance, in many cases the incident was so insignificant to me at the time that I didn’t remember - that is, until she brought down the hammer to jog my memory. And in every case, I paid dearly because she remembered every detail, and with the clarity of an incident that might have happened the day before.

While men tend to condescendingly refer to women as “the gentler sex,” that’s a myth. It’s a delusion manufactured to accommodate our masculine arrogance. As men, we tend to purposely ignore the fact that all of the “great men” of history (including Jesus), were raised by women, and that’s where their thoughts and philosophies originated. While their fathers were out trying to be masculine and great, it was their mothers who groomed their minds. So in a very real sense, it’s women who control this world.

THIS IS A CONSERVATIVE'S VIEW
OF A WOMAN'S PLACE 

Our human society is structured much like a colony of bees. Males are simply the labor force, while it is women who are the queens.  But Women have the innate common sense to allow men to massage our childish egos by strutting around like peacocks taking credit for all of human progress, while women quietly go about the business of keeping humanity in tact. They have the good sense to give men the bragging rights, while they consume the honey of our labor and keep humanity moving forward.  But the fact is, everything a man does, from strutting around on the football field in  skin-tight pants, to flying to the Moon, he does to impress women, the queens of humanity. That's why we try to limit them.
.
We don't want women flying jets, or in competition with us and diminishing our accomplishments. We want them standing on the sidelines applauding us in awe as they watch us soar over head. But women are simply allowing us to indulge our delusions.  A perfect example of the power of a woman's mind is the fact that when Barack Obama graduated from college, it was Michelle who groomed and mentored him. The Washington Post reported in its article, When Michelle Met Barack, “The fact that she was Obama's mentor made her feel self-conscious. She often recounts how she resisted when Barack asked her out . . .”

Thus, while women may not be as physically strong as men, when nature gives one living organism an advantage over another, it gives the other the means to compensate for it, and more often than not, quite effectively.  In the case of women, nature’s balancing act involves their strength of character and intellect, and that balancing mechanism was clearly on display in the Kavanaugh hearings. While Brett Kavanaugh was alternately roaring and beating his chest like an angry beast one minute, and then blubbering like a wounded child the next, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford simply stepped forward and quietly asked, “Would you pass me some caffeine, please?” Thereafter, she proceeded to drag Brett through the mud like the immature and bratty child that he was, and his immature response demonstrated that he continues to be.

When Dr. Ford was done with Kavanaugh, his public persona was in tatters. She quietly, and quite methodically, completely demolished the image that he had carefully cultivated over his entire career.  If he lives to be ninety years old he'll never be looked upon in the same way again. Before our eyes the myth of a solemn, dignified, and respected jurist was ripped apart and replaced with the image of a childishly irresponsible, and recklessly narcissistic individual on the order of a Donald Trump (in fact, he actually seemed to channel Trump during the hearings) - and that was no small feat by Dr. Ford for just one morning of testimony, and she never raised her voice above a whisper. Then, instead of Kavanaugh having the simple common sense to try to salvage what was left of his completely demolished judicial image, his testimony only served to ratified Dr. Ford’s allegation of his inclination toward brutish and childish behavior. The only thing missing from Kavanaugh’s testimony was a slurring voice and a bottle of beer. It left one forced to ask, is this nomination a joke? What kind of judgment and judicial temperament is this!!!?

Kavanaugh’s behavior before the entire world just screamed that this man lacked the judicial caliber and temperament to be elevated to a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land.  So Kavanaugh’s appointment to the Supreme Court not only tarnishes the court, but further tarnishes our entire government with the roguish criminality of Donald Trump. Because it is abundantly clear that if it were not for the irresponsible self-service of Donald Trump, along with the GOP’s collusion in trying to help Trump escape the consequences of the Mueller probe, this nomination would never have gone forward. Any president with clean hands and common sense would have immediately withdrawn Kavanaugh's nomination. But not Trump. His need to protect his own self-interest far outweighs even a fleeting concern for the nation, so one could all but hear him asking the power-hungry Kavanaugh, “Do I have your loyalty?” It was an absolute atrocity, and based on the public’s response to Kavanaugh’s testimony, the vast majority of Americans agree with that assessment.

THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF CHURCHES

.

In spite of the fact that Donald Trump was supported by 81% of White Evangelicals, The National Council of Churches, an organization which represents over 100,000 congregations and 40 million churchgoers issued the following statement:
.
The National Council of Churches (NCC) calls for the withdrawal of the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. We believe he has disqualified himself from this lifetime appointment and must step aside immediately.

.

We note several reasons. During his appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Judge Kavanaugh exhibited extreme partisan bias and disrespect towards certain members of the committee and thereby demonstrated that he possesses neither the temperament nor the character essential for a member of the highest court in our nation. We are deeply disturbed by the multiple allegations of sexual assault and call for a full and unhindered investigation of these accusations.
.
In addition, his testimony before the Judiciary Committee included several misstatements and some outright falsehoods. All citizens must be expected to speak truthfully when under oath, however, this is especially true for anyone who seeks a seat on the Supreme Court.
.
Moreover, Judge Kavanaugh’s extensive judicial and political record is troubling with regard to issues of voting rights, racial and gender justice, health care, the rights of people with disabilities, and environmental protections. This leads us to believe that he cannot be an impartial justice in cases that are sure to come before him at the Court.
.
Therefore the National Council of Churches calls for the withdrawal of Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court immediately.
.
In addition to the Protestant Church, America, the primary Jesuit publication within the Catholic Church has withdrawn it’s support for Kavanaugh as well, saying, “While we previously endorsed the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh on the basis of his legal credentials and his reputation as a committed textualist, it is now clear that the nomination should be withdrawn.”

THE GROSS VIOLATION OF POLITICAL NORMS

THE GOP VS WOMEN
BAD MOVE, FELLAS

Another reason that the American people must revisit this Kavanaugh atrocity is that Trump and the GOP have upset far too many political norms in order to shove Kavanaugh down our throats. Clear thinking and fair-minded Americans simply can’t allow the GOP to get away with this gross assault on our democracy.
.
Even the conservative Weekly Standard pointed out that Robert Carlson, President of the American Bar Association, asked senators Grassley and Feinstein in a letter on September 27 to withhold the vote on Kavanaugh until the FBI could investigate, citing “the ABA's respect for the rule of law and due process under law.” In addition, the dean of Yale Law School released a statement the following day that called for “a careful examination of the accusations and facts by the FBI.”  Robert Carlson, representing the ABA went on to say, “Deciding to proceed without conducting additional investigation would not only have a lasting impact on the Senate's reputation, but it will also negatively affect the great trust necessary for the American people to have in the Supreme Court.”

Yet, in spite of all of these reasonable and common-sense appeals for simple fairness and adherence to democratic due process, Trump and his GOP cohorts steamrolled right over all appeals for fairness and common decency to shove Kavanaugh down America’s throat, whether we liked it or not - and then, in a historic display of gross hypocrisy and deceit, accused the Democrats of obstructionism! Thus, this one episode has completely outed the GOP. It has clearly demonstrated that the GOP has absolutely no respect for the intelligence of the American people, or for the principles of democracy.  It also shows that the GOP will ALWAYS give the conservative agenda priority over what is in the best interest of America.

Clear evidence of that fact is, first, the GOP withheld 90% of the background documents on Kavanaugh’s career, which is clear evidence that they had plenty to hide. Then in spite of the fact that Mitch McConnell denied President Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland, even an interview, and held the seat hostage for well over a year, all of a sudden the GOP became so frantic to rush Kavanaugh through that they attempted to deny the FBI the time to do any investigation at all. Then when they were FORCE to allow the FBI to do an investigation, they placed such severe restrictions and time limitations on it that what they called a supplemental investigation turned out to be nothing more than a transparent farce designed to give senators cover for the atrocity that they had every intention of carrying out regardless of the results.

Donald Trump flat-out lied to the American people when he said the FBI was given free-rein to interview anyone connected to the Kavanaugh case. The secret results had barely come in before NBC reported that the “FBI has not contacted dozens of potential sources in Kavanaugh investigation," and that literally dozens of witnesses were not interviewed. NBC went on to report that "With the investigation winding down, multiple individuals who have tried to contact the bureau have not heard back.” The FBI was not allowed to interview many witnesses who were clamoring to be heard, and that’s in spite of the fact that there is solid evidence that Kavanaugh perjured himself before the senate.

KAVANAUGH COMMITTED PERJURY DURING SENATE TESTIMONY

Kavanaugh testified during his testimony that he first heard of Deborah Ramirez’s allegation that he exposed himself before her when it came out in the New Yorker article in September, but text messages show that he was communicating with friends about the allegation in July.

“In the days leading up to a public allegation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh exposed himself to a college classmate, the judge and his team were communicating behind the scenes with friends to refute the claim, according to text messages obtained by NBC News:
.
“The texts between Berchem and Karen Yarasavage, both friends of Kavanaugh, suggest that the nominee was personally talking with former classmates about Ramirez’s story in advance of the New Yorker article that made her allegation public. In one message, Yarasavage said Kavanaugh asked her to go on the record in his defense. Two other messages show communication between Kavanaugh's team and former classmates in advance of the story.”

And finally, even after the GOP limited the FBI investigation to a mere farce, once the “investigation” was completed it was kept secret from the American people. The senators weren’t even given a copy of the completed investigation. Senators were forced to go to a special room just to read it. So the question is, who do these Republican politicians think they are to tell the American people what they can and cannot see!!!?  We paid for that investigation, and, we pay their salaries! - and far too much, I might add.
.
What this sad episode in our history clearly demonstrates is that the Republican Party has become so arrogant in their newfound power that they’ve forgotten their place, and it’s time for the American people to remind them of it. What these politicians fail to realize is that they are not our masters, they’re our EMPLOYEES, so the American people would be absolutely remiss not to DEMAND to revisit this issue and point that fact out.

So once again, Brett (or maybe I should say, Bart), don’t get too comfortable because we’ll be back - and this time with a CRIMINAL investigation.

The weak-kneed men and submissive women who are leaving no stone unturned to ignore SIXTY-TWO women, and an ADMISSION of guilt by Bill Cosby himself , which led to a guilty verdict in his sexual assault case, are being foolish. They claim to be trying to defend Bill from what they characterize as a “public lynching,” but they fail to recognize that bigotry entails much more than just racism. Sexism is also a form of bigotry, and male supremacist bigotry is exactly what Cosby was engaged in.
.
Women are just as oppressed by sexism as Black men are by racism, and both are preventing the Black community from moving forward, because Black men and women can never come together to fight the evils of racism until Black men begin to recognize their own bigotry in the oppression of women.  These men never stop to consider that while Black men only have to fight White supremacy, Black women are forced to fight both the bigotry of White supremacy, and male supremacy, in both society, and in their very own community.
.
This is not only grossly unfair to women, but it also has a severe impact on the Black community as a whole. In order for the community to move forward, Black men and women must work as a team to address the evils of White supremacy, but we can never be a team in the fight against racism as long as Black men suffer from the exact same disease as the White bigots we’re suppose to be fighting.
.

One of the biggest obstacles to Black progress is the breakdown of the Black family, and the primary cause of that breakdown is the Black man’s need to compensate for his loss of manhood at the hands of the White man by oppressing Black women in the very same way that he’s being oppressed. Many weaker Black men tend to engage in abusive and bigoted behavior toward Black women because it gives them the sense of power and manhood that they lack in society as a whole. They’re like a wimp who’s afraid to fight another man so he goes home and slap his wife. 
.
It’s simple psychology - the weaker the man, the more oppressive and inflexible he is in his attitude toward women. And that’s completely understandable, because what’s left of his manhood is totally dependent upon the subjugation of women. Clear evidence of that is the stronger the woman, the more hostile weak men tend to be toward her. That’s what’s led to the hostility toward the women who had the courage to standup against Cosby. They’re strength and determination is a direct threat to the security of weak-kneed men, so such men use the pretext of defending Cosby from the racist agenda of these "conniving" women in order to promote their own bigotry, and to maintain a culture of male supremacy - and the misguided women who follow their lead have simply been beaten down over the years. They’ve been oppressed for so long that they simply accept it as a way of life.
.
So the women who have come out against Bill Cosby and other so-called powerful men are doing exactly what they should be doing. In fact, if more week-kneed men would wake up and take a page out of their book in their own fight against bigotry and political oppression, there would be no Donald Trump, much less economic inequity, and this would be a much more stable society for the poor and middle class. So wake up, brother, and begin to recognize - and respect - your woman’s value.

Are Women Turning Men Off With Their Liberated Attitudes Toward Sex?

(Sorry, Fellas. I Had to Spill the Beans In the Interest of the Community)

I want to preface this article by assuring everyone that I’m no prude, nor am I some kind of Bible-thumper trying to force my religious agenda down anyone’s throat. In addition, I don't think there's anyone on the planet who enjoys sex more than I do. I’m merely giving my honest opinion of what I think is contributing to the break-down of the family unit, and it all boils down to one thing - sex.
.
Women talk to me all the time about how useless and irresponsible many men have become, which I pretty much agree with. But what women don’t seem to understand is the pivotal role that they're playing in bringing about their own frustration.
.
Women have made casual sex far too readily available in our society, and that has resulted in two things that place them at a decided disadvantage. First, women have allowed sex to become so easy to obtain that men no longer have to become real men to get it. As a result, there’s no incentive for men to become responsible adults and father figures. That’s why you see forty year-old men still living with their momas and hanging out on the block wearing sideway-tilting baseball caps. That image doesn't lend itself to being a father figure or a good role model, but unlike in the past, they don’t have to be, because if they can come up with a couple of joints and a pint of gin they can get all the sex they can handle regardless to how dysfunctional they seem to be as men.

Things were different in the past. As a rule, in order for our grandfathers to obtain sex during their generation, they had to prove their manhood, jump through a series of hoops, and wine and dine our grandmothers for months and even years - and in many cases, they even had to marry them first. But now all a young boy has to do is walk into a club with enough pocket change to buy a drink or two. That gives him no incentive whatsoever to become a responsible adult, and all the incentive in the world to continue hangin’ out in the clubs instead of focusing on what's going on around him and becoming a man.
.

Women used to know how to handle their business. Even with my late wife, Val, while she wasn’t as stingy and strict as some of the ladies from the old school, when we were going together, even while secretly keeping in regular touch with my mother, she stopped speaking to me for an entire year until I caved in and adopted the kind of lifestyle that she approved of - and, thank God, she kept me jumping through one hoop are another until the night she died. If she hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been capable of writing this article. So in a very real sense, this article represents a letter to sisters from Val's grave. If she were here she’d say, "Girl, what you have beneath your dress is the only leverage you have with these turkeys, so use it wisely" - and anyone who reads this article who knew Val will tell you, I’m not lyin’.

The second way that the sexual mores of our society is hurting women is, even among the men who are responsible - and who are looking forward to heading families - they're finding it increasingly difficult to find the kind of woman who they feel comfortable about starting a family with.
.
The problem is, women don't understand men, and the reverse is also true. That's why most men and women can only relate to one another on a sexual level. Men think that women are impressed by what THEY think is "cool," and women think that men are impressed by what a woman finds impressive in a man - swagger, confidence, and assertiveness. But both are wrong. In many cases, what men consider "cool," women consider silly and simply put up with. And most men don’t consider swagger and assertiveness attractive in a woman at all. Those qualities boils down to aggressiveness, and that’s a male characteristic, so why would a man find a woman who acts like a man attractive? Do women find men who act like women attractive? Not really. So the very same thing is true in the reverse. Men and women have different needs. So many times, when men and women try to impress one another they either turn each other off, or make fools of themselves.

Let me give you an example. Many women think they can get a man by acting sensuous, sexually provocative, and assertive. In a sense, that’s true. A woman, any woman, can get a man that way, but only as a sex partner, not as her man. Because men classify women in three different categories. The first category is hoe, or someone to use instead of having to masturbate. The second category is sex partner and road dawg. Men like the women in this category as friends, someone to party with, and to have as a sex partner. Unlike the women in category one, men actually like and respect the women in category two women, but not enough to marry - that is, unless they fall in love by accident. Men generally choose a woman who is sexually stingy as a wife. The reason for that is quite simple, so he won't have to worry about her cheating once they become a couple.

Men will die to protect their manhood. Nothing is more important to us, and there’s no greater assault on a man’s manhood than a cheating woman, because it sends a message that says two things - first, that he wasn’t man enough to keep her in line, and secondly, that the man she’s cheating with is more of a man than he is. So women should understand that if they ever get caught cheating, that’s it. The man may not leave you immediately, but from that point on, he’s just waiting for the right "lady" to come along so he can replace you.

Men are not like many women, who'll forgive and move on with the simple assurance that it will never happen again, because you’ve assaulted his manhood, and that's an unforgiveable offense. You've fallen off the pedestal that a man requires his woman to stand upon, so he'll never look at you in the same way again.  So generally speaking, the women that men like to party and have fun with, are not the women that they choose for a wife, because even though he may like them, they’re perceived as being much too casual in their sexuality.
.
When a man decides to marry - unless he falls in love with a category two woman by accident as a result of having repeated sex with her - he chooses a wife from the third category. These women are generally very protective of their sexuality, low-key, and feminine. Men not only feel that these women are more apt to be loyal, but there’s also a psychological component to it. Category three women are harder to get, and it’s human nature to want most what’s hardest to obtain. That’s why a Bentley is more valuable than a Ford. While they both cars will get you where you want to go, a Bentley is more prestigious because it’s harder to obtain. The same is true of a woman. A man wants a woman that other men can't get, and once he gets such a woman, he not only gets uncorrupted sex, but also, a boost to his ego in knowing that he’s lying next to a women that other men can’t have. He also knows that if she didn’t think he was special, she wouldn’t be lying next to him. That’s a huge boost to his sense of manhood, and 99% of a man’s sexual pleasure is mental. Thus, a man is not as interested in having a sex expert for a woman as he is having a woman who is loyal.

On the other hand, many women do want a sex expert - or, at least, a man who has sense enough to consider her needs - because far too often in casual sexual encounters, women end up with men who are just interested in satisfying themselves, and then leave the woman hanging and sexually frustrated when they're done. So a woman wants a man that she knows has the sexual expertise to provide for her sexual needs. But a man doesn’t have to worry about that, because all he needs to obtain satisfaction is a warm, wet, vagina - any warm, wet, vagina.
.
Thus, all a female sex expert means to a man is hoe. Because the assumption is, in order to obtain her sexual expertise, she had to have made herself available to a lot of men. Therefore, she doesn’t see him as special; he just happened to be in the right place at the right time - and if it wasn’t him, it would be someone else. Now don't get me wrong, he’ll PRETEND that the "expert" is rockin’ his world, and doing something for him that can’t be done by any woman with a warm and wet vagina, but that’s just to stroke the woman's ego so he can have sex with her whenever he feels the urge.
.
So personally, I’d rather be with a woman who’s simply capable of enjoying the lust of the sexual experience than I would somebody who’s trying all kinds of techniques on me, any day. Because the "expert’s" head is not in the right place. I want a woman focused on how good SHE'S feeling, and fixated on that tingling sensations that’s building up within her loins, not on how to contract her muscles to impress me with how good she is in bed. After all, a man’s biggest challenge is NOT to climax too soon, so why would he want somebody who’s gonna defeat that purpose? That’s also why men indulge in oral sex, because there is nothing sexier to us than a woman who’s out of her mind with lust and sexual passion. So if there’s any expert in the bed, I want to be the one.
.
So when a woman starts talking sex to a man, or try to be overly sexy, she’s not doing herself a favor. All she's doing is ringing the dinner bell that brings out the predator in a man, but he automatically starts thinking in terms of fun and games with a woman of either category one or two. So just because a woman can get a man’s attention in that way - and any woman can - she shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that she’s going to hold his attention. He’s just gorging himself on hamburger until he can find him a steak - a category three woman; wife material, a woman who’s not gonna even consider the possibly of sex until he jumps through a lot of hoops to get there. She's the prize that most men are after.

Now, I want to emphasize that I’m not advocating any position on this issue. If you’ll notice, the title of this article is a question, not an assertion. My intent is to simply give women insight into how the vast majority of men think. How do I know how most men think? Because from the time we're little boys we spent an inordinate amount of time discussing women and girls. So whether or not what I'm saying is perceived as sexist is not my concern. I’m simply relating the truth - a truth that is common knowledge among most men.
.
While many women may consider what I’ve said here old fashion, men have assessed women in the same way since the beginning of time and across cultural boundaries, and it’s very unlikely to change anytime soon. But the problem with truth, and the primary reason that so many people object to it is, it doesn’t always conform to either ideology or fashion. It simply is what it is. So efficient thought requires that we ALWAYS give truth priority over ideology. But much too often we try to give ideology priority over truth. Then when truth comes into conflict with our ideology, we try to contort the truth to fit more comfortably into what we want to believe. and unfortunately, that's what many women do when it comes to the subject of sex. 
.
As a result of that tendency, modern women are living under the mass delusion that because their attitudes have changed, the attitudes of men have changed along with them, but they are horribly mistaken. You see, men simply pretend to have changed because it’s to our advantage. The modern female mind-set makes casual sex much more available, and we love it - I certainly do, because I’m just as predatory regarding sex as any other man. But that doesn’t mean that I’m so accommodating to that new mind-set that I want to marry the women that I’m having sex with - and I’m very comfortable in saying that MOST men feel the same way - and that’s a major contributor to the dysfunction of the modern family structure, which is the point of my article.
.
I want to emphasize that I'm not suggesting that women should remain celibate until marriage, but I'm sure many women are going to read that into it. I'm simply saying that men prefer women who are "protective" of their sexuality, and women need to understand that, regardless to what a man may say.  Women need to keep in mind that a man will say anything, and take any position, that allows sex to be readily available. But if you want to see a man’s true attitude toward female sexuality, all you have to do is even suggest that his mother or daughter is less than protective of their sexuality. You’ll end up with an extremely hostile individual on your hands. Thus, a man's attitude toward sex is very complex - while we love it being easily available, we don't want the women in our lives involved in contributing to the ease of availability.

So the bottom line is, the new female mind-set towards sex not only creates a disincentive for men to step up to the plate to become responsible husbands and fathers, but once they are husbands and fathers, the attitude of many women outside of the marriage creates constant pressure for men to cheat. Thus, the attitude of the modern women regarding casual sex often serves to create the very Hell that many women often complain about.

Think about it. What incentive does a man have to limit his sex life and take on the responsibility of settling down with one woman when he can have all the sex that he can handle - with multiple women - and without having to take on any responsibility at all? Not much. And what cultural incentive does a married man have to remain faithful? Again, not much. So I'm not advocating that women reverse their newfound sexual freedom, but rather, to consider carefully how that freedom is used, because every male you come into contact with certainly is. So while I'm not advocating any position, I am suggesting that women learn the rules of the game and not allow themselves to be played, because having that knowledge gives women options on how they want to play the game.

In that regard, what's important for every woman to remember is, while many women's attitude toward sex has changed tremendously over the years, men are still very old fashion when it comes to their woman - they have to be, because the way a man’s woman carries herself is reflective of his manhood - and that's very important to a man. While I know this may sound kinda old-school to contemporary women, with all of the sexual opportunities out there for your man, how you carry yourself may be the determining factor on whether or not your man is willing to make that extra effort to be the kind of man you want him to be. And women should also remember this - as old fashion as your grandmother was, she didn’t have any problem hanging on to her man.

Let’s Get Real - What We Call ‘American Ideals’ Are a Sham

While this country professes to honor the ideals of freedom, independence, liberty, and justice, that's just lip service. We have a long history of stifling each and every one of those ideals, and anyone who doesn't believe that should simply try suing a major corporation for an injustice, or try embracing the "freedom" to live an unconventional lifestyle. This country frowns upon those things just like any other country. Gays and women are learning that lesson as we speak.

All of the institutions that are supposedly designed to protect our freedom and justice are nothing more than facades that are actually designed to give us the ILLUSION of freedom and justice. While I don't want to throw a monkey-wrench in anyone's comfort zone, it's very important for us to wake up and be realistic about what we DON'T have, in order to work towards actually achieving what I choose to call "The American Wish List."

According to "TakePart.com, "In 2008, eight states had no laws requiring students recite the Pledge of Allegiance at school. That number has recently dwindled to five, with Nebraska being the latest state to adopt a statewide mandate."

Many conservatives enthusiastically advocate that children be mandated to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school. Conservative talk show host, Sean Hannity, said, "Why wouldn’t anyone want to say the Pledge of Allegiance, unless they detested their own country or were ignorant of its greatness?” Notice that even in Hannity's statement advocating the recitation of  the Pledge of Allegiance, which guarantees "Freedom and Justice for all," you can hear a clear indictment against those who may choose not to recite the pledge.

That's the kind of gross and narrow-minded hypocrisy that makes people not want to recite it in the first place - "I love the freedom, liberty, and justice in America so passionately that I'm willing to take it from you to get you to love it like I do." That's also what makes us look like the Beverly Hillbillies of the "free world" - rich and powerful, but as presumptuous, backward-thinking, and unsophisticated as they come.

The problem with many conservatives like Hannity, Limbaugh, and other's is they're so blind that they fail to even see the hypocrisy of their position. Thus, as a middle-class African American male - in fact, as a human being of good conscience - I take great exception with making it mandatory for our children to recite a lie as fact at a time in their lives when their thinking is being molded without their consent, or the consent of their parents. Because the Pledge of Allegiance represents the worst kind of hypocrisy, and it serves no useful purpose other than to brainwash the nation's children.
.
One would think that as a conservative Mr. Hannity would recognize that the very essence of freedom is the freedom of parents to raise their children according to the philosophy that they see fit. Therefore, forcing a pledge down the collective throat of America's children constitutes an unconscionable intrusion by government on a family's rights. It's un-American by definition, and it violates the very pledge that our children are being forced to recite.

A mandatory pledge is a blatant act of indoctrination. What other motive can we have for forcing children to recite a pledge that they don't even understand? When I was a kid coming up during the height of the civil rights struggle, I was forced to pledge my allegiance to a nation that frowned upon everything I represented, and was dead set on thwarting anything that I ever hoped to become.

At the same time, so-called "patriotic Americans" - while enthusiastically insisting that we recite The Pledge - simultaneously lynched African Americans, bombed black children in church, and formed angry mobs to show up and jeer black children attempting nothing more than to go to the school of their choice.
.
And shortly before that, these same "patriotic Americans" forced Black WWII heroes (the Tuskegee Airman) returning from Europe to give up their seats to German prisoners of war. Yet, there I was, standing there reciting the Pledge of Allegiance - "and to the republic for which it stands" - every morning. Even as a child, if I had understood the meaning of the words that I would later have to dredge from my brain just to be able to think clearly, I would have refused to recite them - regardless of the consequences.

And beyond the pledge being morally disingenuous and a monument to the worst kind of hypocrisy, the entire text is, literally, a lie: ". . . One nation under God." In light of what I've just described, what is that supposed to mean? "Indivisible." The Civil War demonstrates that's a lie. "With liberty and justice for all." I won't even waste the ink to address that issue. So again, other than brainwashing, what other motive could we possibly have for requiring our children to start off every morning with a lie of that magnitude?

Now, I realize that I sound like a wild-eyed radical, but if I do, it's only because I have a very low threshold for bullshit. I love this country, but I love truth and clear thinking much more. So I'm eclectic in my views. I believe in clear, unadulterated thought, and addressing every issue on its own merit. As a result, sometimes I agree with liberals, and at other times I agree with conservatives. That doesn't always make me very popular, but I'm more than happy to forego popularity in return for moral and intellectual clarity. I was taught that's what it means to be an American. Maybe I'm naive, but I took that lesson seriously.
.
I'm in pursuit of truth, not an agenda. For that reason I stand with conservatives on issues like set-asides based on race, because moral and intellectual consistency dictates that if you're against discrimination, you must be against all discrimination. Thus, if we're going to set aside resources for the poor, those resources should be available to all of the poor, regardless to race, creed, or color. Our failure to recognize that fact ran a lot of White people who marched with King right into the arms of the Republican Party during the Affirmative Action controversy.
.
Yet, I stand with liberals in being against vouchers. The mere fact that conservatives want to create an entitlement program "in the best interest of minorities" immediately sends up a red flag for me. Creating schools run by corporations is the fastest way that I can think of to create young fascists who are running around speaking in fundamentalist tongue.
.
A voucher system would also lead to a two-tier society. What would happen to low and middle-class children if private schools raised tuition  beyond their parents' reach and the public school system have been destroyed? I'll tell you what will happened - the parents would be chained to corporations to work for crumbs just so their children could learn to read and write.
.
Proponents of a mandatory pledge contend that our children should be taught to love and respect our country. It is my position that too much nationalism and not enough principle is what caused the kind of animosity toward this country that led to 9/11. We need to teach our children to embrace high ethical standards and principles, and then if the leaders of our country followed suit, the nation would benefit from the uncoerced love and respect of its citizens and the world.
.
Thus, the Pledge of Allegiance should not be a pledge at all. It should be presented as a goal. Then instead of lying about who and what we are, it would encourage us to focus our energies on actually becoming the society that we profess to believe in. Maybe then we'll create the kind of nation where brainwashing our children for their allegiance won't be necessary.
