ORGANIZED RELIGION IS EVIL - AND TRUMP PROVES IT

Beneath the Spin*Eric L. Wattree

EXCELLENCE IS THE KEY TO BLACK EQUALITY
.
ORGANIZED RELIGION IS EVIL
THAT’S WHY SO MANY RELIGIOUS FANATICS SUPPORT TRUMP AND OTHER DEMAGOGUES

God works in mysterious ways. So maybe God did send Trump here, but he sent him here to warn us of the gross hypocrisy that the many so-called "Godologists" have brought into our lives. Look at all the misery, murder and mayhem going on around the world in the name of religion. One man in the Middle East even cut his wife’s lips off because she had the audacity to try putting on lipstick. Such people don't bring the love and goodness of God into our lives, they bring hatred and narrow-minded idiocy into our midst.
.
Thus, organized religion is nothing short of the pure ignorance and autocratic stupidity of man trying to shove his beliefs down the throats of other men through the use of dubious ancient scriptures.  But God speaks to us through common sense, not the superstitious rantings of 3000-year-old dead men. Such men didn't know any more about God than we do - which is absolutely nothing. They were simply the Pat Robertsons of their time.
.
You don’t have to be a part of a religious cult to love and worship God, so while I’m a firm believer in God, I have neither the superstitious nature, inclination, nor the desire to embrace any form of religious Voodoo. Through the simple use of the common sense that God bestowed upon me, it has always been clear to me that Jesus didn't die for our sins. Jesus died because he was stabbed, just like any other human being would. Case closed.
.
And not only that, why would God send his "only begotten son" through all that suffering? He's God - he could have simply forgiven us for our sins without sending his son through all that unnecessary suffering and mayhem, wouldn't you? So it sounds to me like the followers of Jesus had to come up with a justification for how the man they claimed was the son of God could be killed. So they waited 7 days, and then when nobody was looking, they stole his body from the tomb and claimed he got up and walked away (they must've been Republicans). Now, that makes much more sense, doesn't it? So don't be idiotic enough to buy into all the Voodoo. It'll only keep you blind and broke, while your preacher rides around in a Cadillac.
.
I was raised in church, and even as a child I didn’t like the gross hypocrisy I saw there. Some of the most evil and self-righteous people I've ever met I met in church. These people weren't interested in bringing the love of God into my life, they were control freaks, so they were more interested in trying to tell me how to live my life. And to accomplish that goal they tried to insult my intelligence with ridiculous stories of walking dead men and talking snakes to scare me into compliance. They should have simply been content to teach me to respect the wisdom of Jesus (which I do), instead of trying to convince me that he was a superhuman being who could walk on water, which is pure nonsense. So when it comes to religion I’ve been there, and done that, and I came away highly insulted by the experience.

.
While I'm the product of one of the most religious families I know, and I'm extremely spiritual, even as a child I wasn't an idiot. I just couldn't get myself to believe all the supernatural nonsense they were trying to shove down my throat. So at 14 years old I shook the dust from my feet, left the church, and I haven't lightened their door since - and now, even as an adult, I've instructed my family not to let any preacher preach over my body upon my death. They've been instructed to simply cremate me and sprinkle my ashes in the ocean.
.
There are over 4200 different religions on Earth. If God had anything at all to do with any of them, there'd be only one. So religion is nothing more than a form of social manipulation to convince the people of a given society that they hold a favored place in the heart of God, and thus, the leaders of that society speaks for God, which is a blatant lie.
.
If Americans actually cared anything at all about Christianity, there never would have been either slavery, bigotry, or the genocide of over 200 million Native Americans. But as we currently see during this Trump era, religious fanatics only believe in "The Word of God" as long as it's convenient. When it becomes less than convenient, they toss it aside like a used Tampon, and instead of loving their neighbors, they put them in cages.

Organized religion is at the very root of 99% of all of the bigotry, evil, murder and mayhem in the world today. So those religious fanatics who support Trump, only support him because he promotes their brand of bigotry, greed, and hatred of all those who don’t look, think, and act like themselves. Clear evidence of that fact is their willingness to turn a blind eye to all of the ungodly flaws in Trump's character. Jesus Christ would undoubtedly condemn the man, but due to their own bigotry and self-interest many White Evangelists have chosen to overrule Jesus and give Trump a pass.
.
So whenever you see a "Christian for Trump", regardless to what their justification, you know you're looking at a hypocrite that's destined to burn in Hell. Because while they may be able to fool themselves, one another, and the gullible, they can't fool God.

BAD NEWS FOR REV. GRAHAM:

COMMON SENSE IS GOD WHISPERING IN YOUR EAR

Beneath the Spin * Eric L. Wattree

Contrary to popular belief, Black people don't have a moral obligation to be stupid.
.
COMMON SENSE IS GOD WHISPERING IN YOUR EAR
.

I'm an independent thinker and far from a religious fanatic, but logic causes me to lean toward believing in a supreme force. I say, "Force" instead of "Being" because one of our biggest problems while trying to conceive of God is that we're so arrogant that we assume God has to have the same characteristics as we do. So, for me, God is simply whatever force is responsible for existence and the creation of the universe.
.
Something had to cause the universe to come into existence, and whatever that something was, I call it God. Thus, God is whatever force, entity, or process that’s responsible for what we refer to as existence, regardless of whether God is a he, she, it, or the universe itself. That’s all we know, and all we need to know - and any preacher who claims to know anything beyond that is lying.
.
But that said, I don't believe for a minute that God sits around watching everything we do to try to decide whether to punish or reward us. That's nonsense. The consequences of our behavior is what rewards or punishes us - if you do something stupid, like jump off a roof, you get a bad result, like a broken leg. So the mere thought that God is so preoccupied with man that he's fixated on whether we believe in him or not is simply a reflection of man's arrogance and exaggerated sense of self-importance. Why would God sit around throughout eternity jumping through hoops and doing magic tricks to try to get man to worship him? That's ridiculous. We're just not that important.  It would be the equivalent of our spending all of our time tap dancing in front of the toilet trying to earn the honor and respect of the germs under our toilet seat. Wouldn't that be stupid? Of course it would, and I doubt very seriously that the creator of the universe is stupid. Being stupid is man’s job, and we're not even that stupid.
.
So let's take a moment and look at what man actually represents in terms of the universe in order to can get a little perspective. Our galaxy has over 200 billion stars, and the Sun is
only one of them. It takes the Sun, along with Earth and it’s other 8 hitchhikers, traveling at 828,000 mph 230 million years to orbit around our galaxy just one time.  Yet, our solar system, with its 9 planets, is only a microscopic dust particle in our galaxy, and our galaxy itself, in terms of the universe, is nothing more than a microscopic dust particle in space.
.
To make sense of the distances we’re talking about here, on January 19, 2006 we launched the space probe, New Horizon, for the planet Pluto in our own solar system. It was the Fastest man-made object ever launched from Earth.  It sped through space at 36,400 mph. That’s 24 times faster than an AK 47 military rifle bullet. Yet it took New Horizon until July 14, 2015 (9 years, 6 months) to reach Pluto – and again, that’s just in our own solar system.
.
Thus, if Earth was your house in Los Angeles, Pluto would be a flea in San Diego, and Alpha Centauri, the closest neighboring star to the Sun, would be an elephant in China - and that's just within our galaxy. There are over 200 billion stars, equally as far away from one another, in just our galaxy alone, and there are more galaxies in the universe than there are grains of sand on every beach, every desert, and every ocean floor on the planet Earth – and that’s just in the observable universe that's still expanding in every direction at the speed of light. But even with the enormity of that, our entire universe could be merely a speck of dust under the toenail of some gigantic being. Yet, man thinks he can tell other men what's on God's mind!!!? That's utterly ridiculous.
.
If you’re a Christian, do you believe that God sent Jesus to all the hundreds of trillions of worlds in the universe? Or maybe you believe that we're so special that we're the only speck of dust in the universe with life on it?  It might seem that way, but the only reason that we don’t see other beings is because even if they lived right next door to us (which they do), even traveling at the speed of light, it would take them 137 thousand years to get here, because the next closest star to the Sun, Alpha Centauri, is over 24 trillion miles away.  So, think about that – in order to just drop in for a cup of coffee they would have had to leave home 135 thousand years before Jesus was born, and they won't get here for another 133 thousand years - and again, that’s just our closest neighbor!
.
So, man is way too full of himself. God must be falling out laughing at our arrogance (if he even remembers who we are), because man is clearly on the mother of all ego trips. Whenever I'm unfortunate enough to even be in earshot of a preacher I have to laugh, because I view what most people call a sermon as a comedy routine. And I always ask myself, "Will you listen to this fool! I wonder does he actually believe this nonsense himself!!?" Even though many of his "flock" think God is fixated on us and worried about whether we believe in him or not, in terms of the universe, man is trillions of times less significant than a germ under a toilet seat in Uzbekistan - and the other side of  the religious coin is just as ridiculous. Anyone who claims that the universe just sprung up out of nowhere and says, "Prove that God exists" is just looking for an argument. So, the appropriate response to such people is quite simple. You simply say, "Look around you, fool!", and then walk away.
.
The so-called realms of Heaven and Hell are also right out of Mother Goose. Both are simply concepts created by man to control other men, to get them to dig deeper into their pockets when they pass the collection plate. The entire concept just reeks of man’s tendency to threaten and/or bribe other men into subservience. In fact, the only reason we have religion at all is to justify our cruelty towards other men. Whenever we want to kill other men, we first seek approval from God through religion. In fact, I remember how the idea of a military chaplain struck me as strange when I was in the Marine Corps. Think about it - "Dear Lord, please help us to kill more of them than they do of us." What!!!?  So, if God was indeed watching man and evaluating our worthiness, he would have hit the delete button long ago.
.
And finally, let's take a look at what we refer to as “The Holy Bible”. That book is
nothing more than a collection of the superstitious rantings of 3000-year-old dead men. They didn’t know any more about God than we do today. They were the Pat Robertsons of their time – and just as clueless. Just because a man was born 2000 years before you doesn't mean he was either smarter than you, or knew any more about God (Common Sense 101). The fact is, in most cases he was dumber than you.
.
If a man passed out in the town square 2000 years ago, and then Jesus sprinkled water in his face and brought him around, many of the people back then would have thought that Jesus brought him back from the dead.  Or if Jesus was walking along the beach with the setting Sun reflecting on the wet sand, it would have looked to many like he was walking on water, and they would have wrote about it in what was to become "The Holy Bible" - and those are the kind of things many of you are getting all dressed up  every Sunday morning and paying a preacher to keep telling you about in his spoken-word concert. As hard as times are, you're paying a man a tenth of your earnings to regale you with tales of pure ignorance.
.
Because the fact is, no book written by man can tell you anything about God, because

no man has ever met God. We can only know God’s will by what he has done, and as I’m very fond of telling anyone who will listen, God made birds to fly, fish to swim, and man to think, not to believe in talkin’ snakes.  God anticipated our needs when he created us, and he gave us the intellect to answer our own prayers and to live the kind of life that would create Heaven right here on Earth if used properly. But if used improperly, we can also create our own Hell, which we seem to be doing as we speak.
.
So, God doesn’t require a Pat Robertson or T.D. Jakes to speak for him, nor do we need the Bible as a user’s guide to dictate how we should live our lives. Do fish need a swimming coach, or do birds need a compass and calendar to know when to fly South? No they don't. They’re born with that knowledge, just as we were born with the common sense to survive in our environment. We just need to follow that common sense and stop paying preachers to tell us what God's wants. Man is the only animal on Earth that fails to do so. God demonstrated his will when he gave each of us our very own brain, so we should use it. If you'd just listen to your common sense, God would tell you in no uncertain terms that snakes don't talk, and no matter how much you pay a preacher, he will not be able to stop you from dying, or get you into Heaven once you do.

.
That brings us to the concept of good and evil. It’s a very simple concept - good is
THIS IS A HAPPY MAN
BECAUSE HE LIVES BY COMMON SENSE
having the intelligence to follow your common sense, and evil is failing to utilize that intelligence - or to be too ignorant to realize that if you shoot and kill somebody’s father or son, chances are, they’re gonna come back and kill you. It’s as simple as that. Thus, the key to living a good and happy life is to become an efficient and independent thinker with the intelligence to follow your common sense.
.
So, this entire article can be boiled down to one sentence - "Never give the Bible, preachers, potentates, or anyone else's ability to think priority over your own, because common sense is God whispering in your ear."

THIS IS A MISERABLE MAN
BECAUSE HE LACKS COMMON SENSE

Evil-Doers Are Not Determined By Race - They're Determined By The Power and Opportunity To Do Evil

BENEATH THE SPIN • ERIC L. WATTREE

Evil-Doers Are Not Determined By Race - They're Determined By The Power and Opportunity To Do Evil

Reality_Check says:
.
"Dr. Wattree, I understand you mean well, but I respectfully disagree. History and current events simply do not support your assertions. The reason why is because the majority of white people are either racist themselves OR they know people who harm others through racism and they remain SILENT of such atrocities. This is the commission vs. omission principle. Most white people are guilty of racism by omission, meaning that they are aware of racism, when and how it is applied, and the victims of racism, but they do NOTHING to either speak or act against it. This is because white people are keenly aware that they benefit from white supremacy and racism, so they are not willing to sacrifice their privilege to act against racism. They know too well which side their bread is buttered on. This is why they do not oppose racism en masse. You cannot benefit from and simultaneously oppose racism. That is illogical.
.
"I don’t want to hear about what whites have done in the past because the truth is, despite this, the majority of them say and do nothing to act against the every day racism that they know to exist. What you are referencing is a very small faction of white people that protested and demonstrated side by side with blacks during the Civil Rights. Those whites certainly did not represent the average white person during that day. Don’t even get me started on the Vietnam War. Whites were protesting because they did not want to see THEIR sons killed in the war. Their protests had nothing to do with black people. That was a terrible example to underscore your point. The average white person’s silence where racism is concerned makes them just as complicit as the rabid racists who use their influence to oppress others. If this were not the case, then you wouldn’t see such discrimination in employment, housing, education, medical treatment, and the legal system where blacks are concerned. In order for racism to survive and THRIVE it takes more than just a few rabid racist to make it work. It absolutely requires the complicit approval of the MAJORITY of the white race to make it a success.
.
"Now, don’t let this suggest that I’m speaking in absolute terms by saying that ALL whites are racist. This isn’t what I’m saying. I am, however, saying that the majority of whites (meaning the average) practice racism either through action or inaction. If this weren’t the case then you wouldn’t see such disparities in the areas of life mentioned above and you’d see a lot more vocal opponents to the “system.”'
.
Wattree:
.
First, I want to point out right off the bat that I’m not a doctor. I haven’t earn that title so it would be a disservice to those who have put in the effort to allow that point to pass without comment.
.
But with respect to your "Commission vs. Omission Principle," it's invalid, so I have to respectfully disagree with your point of view. People are individuals, and ALL people should ALWAYS be assessed on their own individual merit. That’s one of the primary arguments used to invalidate White racism, so it would be inconsistent, hypocritical, and disingenuous not to adhere to it with respect to White people. One of the angriest complaints that comes out of the Black community is regarding the tendency by some to broad-brush and profile Black people as being all alike, so we shouldn't 'profile' others in that way.  If we fall into the trap of making that mistake it will eventually be used against us.  Let me give you example of that.
.
If we use  your argument that White inaction against racism is in itself a form of racism, logical consistency will demand that we also accept many of the arguments made by bigots against Black people.  Specifically, you said, “Most white people are guilty of racism by omission, meaning that they are aware of racism, when and how it is applied, and the victims of racism, but they do NOTHING to either speak or act against it.”
.
If we use that standard, we also tend to validate many White bigots' contention that ALL (or MOST) Black people are criminals by virtue of the fact that they KNOW about crime yet do nothing to act against it. So through extension that implies that White cops are correct in profiling ALL Black people. I'm sure that's not your position, but logical consistency demands that you take that position in order to embrace your "omission" theory.  So the fundamental problem with trying to indict ALL White people (or all of ANY group) as being the same is that the sword cuts in both directions. Any argument that we use alleging that White people are ALL alike, contradicts our insistence that all Black are NOT alike.
.
In addition, many White people don't speak out about racism (on the job, for example) for the very same reason that Black people are not calling the police and going out on the block pointing out who's dealing drugs, or who robbed the liquor store - they want to survive. self-preservation is their number one priority, and it trumps any civic-minded proclivities they may harbor. They see their first responsibility as protecting themselves and their family.  It's human nature not to rock the boat, so to read anything else into it is based on an unsubstantiable assumption.
.
There’s only two kinds of people in the world – good people, and bad people, period.  I've heard some make the argument that the White man has PROVEN his tendency toward brutality by his very history.  That argument SEEMS to work, until it’s closely examined.  Because if you look at the history of man as a whole, it'll become immediately clear that we all have a history of brutality.  The only thing that distinguishes one group from another is the power, resources, and opportunity to be brutal..  Even as we speak, Black people are in Nigeria killing one another with the kind of brutality, and in numbers, that we can’t even imagine over here:
.
"YAOUNDE, Cameroon (AP) — The Nigeria-based extremist group Boko Haram on Monday threatened neighboring countries Niger and Chad, warning the fighters were prepared to carry out suicide bombings in the countries sending troops to help fight the militants.
.
“The Islamic extremist group has fought a five-year insurgency against Nigeria’s government, leaving 10,000 people dead last year alone. The violence has forced some 157,000 people to seek refuge in Niger, while 40,000 others have gone to Cameroon and 17,000 are in Chad, the U.N. said. Almost 1 million Nigerians are internally displaced, according to the country’s own statistics.”
.
So again, people are people; some are good, and others are bad. What seems to separate us in terms of evil and brutality is not so much the color of our skin, but the power and opportunity to carry out acts of evil and brutality.
.
Finally, I've had this discussion many times before with Black people who want to insist that White people are somehow uniquely flawed. Then when I bring out the issues that I've mentioned above they want to know, "Why are you going to such lengths to defend those people?" But the fact is, I'm not trying to defend White people at all; I'm defending logical and efficient thinking, as I always do.
.
We must always give truth priority over ideology or what tends to make us feel warm and fuzzy inside, because fuzzy thinking is the primary weapon that's been used against Black people for the past 400 years. Thus, truth is the very best defense of both ourselves, and humanity as a whole. We must ALWAYS follow truth, regardless to where it leads, and who's ox it gores, because truth will tell us - and everyone concerned - that racism is no longer the war. At this point racism is merely a weapon of war. We are now in a class war, and the enemy doesn't care any more about poor and middle-class White people than he does Blacks. So if we are to survive, it's time for ALL like-minded people to come together and put all other issues aside, because DIVISION is the enemy's most potent weapon. That's primary reason that Rush Limbaugh and Fox News even exists.

The GOP: A DEMON’S DELIGHT

BENEATH THE SPIN • ERIC L. WATTREE

The GOP:

A DEMON’S DELIGHT

Satan is busy preparing a special place
in Hell for his children.
Paul Ryan, Pat Robertson, the GOP,
his children all,
and they’ve spread his dominion
across the Earth.
.
Yes, Lucifer is dancing on searing,
and red-hot embers as he watch
his loyal children corrupting
the name of the Lord,
and turning his words
of love into instruments of hate.
.
Listen carefully
and you can hear the dark moans
of erotic ecstasy as Satan looks upon
his children sitting in church, and
impersonating angels of God,
while faithfully harboring Satan's
spirit of hatred, hubris, and greed.
.
Yes, these are his children, all -
the children of Hell,
and they’ve done their job well;
they’ve starved the homeless,
slaughtered the weak, in the millions,
and demonized the good.
.
Yes indeed, they’ve served
their father well,
and they’ve brought him
many grandchildren.
So like any proud father,
Beelzebub just can’t wait
to welcome them home.
.
. . . and I can't wait for the
reunion.

A Contemplation of Good, God, and Evil

Beneath the Spin * Eric L. Wattree

A Contemplation of Good, God, and Evil
I'm a freethinker on the subject of religion. I’m not a Bible thumper, I never attend church, and I don’t have much use for preachers. In fact, I just can’t see the logic in getting up early on Sunday morning and getting all dressed up just to go pay somebody to scream at me for two hours. I don’t see the logic in that, and I never did, even when I was forced to participate in the ritual as a kid. But I am a spiritual person, because logic, and the night sky, does inspire me to lean toward the belief that there is indeed a supreme force that governs the universe. After all, the universe didn’t just come from nothing. Some force had to caused the universe to spring into existence, and whatever that force was, I’ve chosen to call it God.
.
Now, an atheist would undoubtedly tell me that I have no proof of the existence of God. The fact is, one told me that just today, and he was zealously insistent upon it. He dismissively suggested that by embracing the concept of God, it was tantamount to my embracing a belief in the "Flying Spaghetti Monster." That was clearly a dismissive assault on my intellect, but I recognized that for some reason, many atheists tend to take great pride in being arrogantly disdainful of the intellect of believers. So instead of vigorously objecting, I simply took note. I did point out, however, that his tone sound quite similar to that of a religious zealot, to which he responded, that religion required faith, and atheists have no use for faith. They deal in pure logic. So I thought I’d examine that contention.
.
I pointed out to him that it takes more faith to be an atheist than it does to be a believer, because believers do have the existence of the universe to point to as a basis of support for their belief, while all an atheist has is his belief, or "faith" that God doesn’t exist. Thus, faith in the non-existence of God is an integral part of what we have now established is his religion.
.
I then went on to point out that in order to maintain the atheist position that God doesn’t exist, he bears the burden of having to prove that something (the universe) came from nothing - or that an effect was "initiated" without a cause - and, from out of nowhere. And since it is my contention that whatever force is responsible for the universe, order, and existence meets the definition God, how can an atheist know with any degree of certainty that nature, and/or the universe itself, isn’t God? After all, is it not true that the universe is responsible for the existence of all living things? That defines God.
.
Thus, the debate, I went on, is no longer one of whether or not God exists, but rather, the NATURE of God’s existence. And that, in turn, leaves an atheists with only his "faith" and/or "religious" conviction to support his claim that God doesn’t exist. Therefore - contrary to what atheists would have us believe, and in spite of their renowned disdain for the silliness of religious dogma - atheism itself is nothing more than just another religion clothed in intellectual pretense, and their denial of the existence of God is merely another religious doctrine. That pretty much shut down the discussion.
.
But that said, neither do I buy into the way God is portrayed by religious zealots of the opposite stripe. The mere thought that in a universe with over 800 billion galaxies - with each containing an average of 300 billion stars, and with each star separated by light years of space - that God would be fixated on the infestation of a mote in the ghetto of an insignificant galaxy is beyond belief. But then, most religious doctrine go even further than that. They suggest that God is so fixated on us that he's watching everything that each of us do, jumping through hoops, and performing magic tricks to get us to worship him (I'm using "him" to keep things simple). That takes us beyond delusional - it’s absolutely psychotic - the accompanying mood-setting music in the background notwithstanding.  It constitutes an absurd attempt by man to turn God into some kind of circus performer.
.
The mere assumption that God is preoccupied with everything we do is merely a reflection of man's arrogance and exaggerated sense of self-importance, and the very idea of God being obsessed with trying to get man to worship him is patently ridiculous. That would be the direct equivalent of man spending every hour of every day trying to demand the respect of the germs under his toilet seat. That would be stupid, and while God may be many things, I doubt very seriously that stupid is among them.
.
Thus, since I view the foregoing perceptions of God as so grossly out of touch with reality, it should go without saying that I don't believe in Heaven or Hell. The entire concept just reeks of man’s tendency to threaten and/or bribe other men into subservience. And besides, if God was indeed watching and evaluating our behavior, he would have long since hit the delete button.
.
So the fact is, we can only know God’s will by what he has done, and as I’ve said many times before, God made birds to fly, fish to swim, and man to think. He anticipated our needs when we were created, so he gave us the intellect to answer our own prayers, and the common sense to live the kind of life that would create our Heaven right here on Earth, if used properly; but if used improperly, we could also create our own Hell, which we have done. So we don’t require a Pat Robertson as God’s Special Envoy and Chief of Staff, nor do we need the Bible as a user’s guide to dictate how we should live our lives any more than fish need a swimming coach or birds need a compass to know which way is south, or a calendar to know when to head in that direction. Again, he blessed us with common sense to be our guide - at least, most of us.
.
That leads me to the concept of good and evil. Actually, it’s quite simple. "Good" is to act with common sense, and what most people call "evil," is nothing more than ignorance. It’s as simple as that. Thus, the key to living a good life is to be an independent thinker, to use our intellectual capacity to explore what it actually means to live a fulfilling life, and to have the good sense to avoid the ignorant machinations of other men. I've boiled it down to one sentence - Never give anyone else's ability to think priority over your own.
.
At this point I’m sure that many have come to the conclusion that I have a disdain for religion, but that’s not true - I have a disdain for the ignorant way in which it’s practiced. There’s nothing wrong with religion itself, if that’s what butters your bread. Some people find it comforting and inspirational to "fellowship" with others. But the problem is, man tends to completely ignore the primary point of religion - to inspire one to treat his fellow man with more caring, and to reinforce the idea of living a good and honorable life. He embraces dogma instead, those things that make his religion different from everyone else’s, and that’s not by accident.
.
The bottom line is, while we pay it a lot of lip service, man doesn’t want to "love his neighbor." Due to his personal insecurity, and the resulting need to feel like he’s a part of a special breed that’s been anointed by God, he wants an excuse to hate, feel superior, and look down upon his neighbor, and religion gives him a "God-approved" pretext for doing just that. Man wants an excuse to say, "It's not that I hate everyone who doesn't look, think, and act like me - it's just that God does." That’s why what we refer to as "The Bible Belt" also just happens to be the most bigoted and intolerant region in the entire country, and you’ll find the same to be true throughout the world - the more religious, the more bigoted, narrow-minded, and intolerant. Does that sound like the work of God? Personally, I don’t think so.
.
So I look upon organized religion as a form of ignorance, and as I mentioned above, I equate ignorance with evil. You show me a man who believes in talking snakes, and I’ll show you a man who may be learned, but he’s not very bright, so he can be convinced of anything. So does organized religion have to be evil? No it doesn’t. But wherever you find hoards of insecure and unthinking people, you’re also going to find excess, hatred, subservience, and greed - or in short, evil.

President Obama: Let Us Not Forget

BENEATH THE SPIN • ERIC L. WATTREE

A MESSAGE TO BUSHLAND
(July 11, 2006)

It’s scary how easily the American people can be manipulated to the point that they find the death of entire families a hoot; How we can sit in front of the tv set with chili dogs and fries and cheer on the death of others like we’re watching the Super Bowl. And it’s a tribute to psychosis how America can unleash mass destruction in "an attempt to prevent mass destruction," in the name of God.

Can’t you see that many of "those towel-heads" are children just like your own? You didn’t really think the U.S. could unleash destruction like we saw and not kill children did you? Rumsfeld said, "Well, [shit] happens." But shit doesn’t just happen--you allowed it to happen. You made it happen. You cheered it on! Consider that as the children bleed and you're admiring the beauty of "Shock and Awe."

Think about your own children as "collateral damage." Think about them screaming in horror while you're helplessly watching their limbs being blown off. Think about them desperately reaching out to you for comfort as life slowly drains from their tiny bodies. Think about foreign boots kicking down your front door, and strangers walking through your home systematically killing every man, woman and child. Imagine the last sight you ever see on this Earth is of your loving child with her brains spilling from her tiny little head. Think about that picture, America--then ask yourself, who's really the terrorist?

Where has America gone? Who’s left to standup for justice and humanity? You say, God Bless America? You'd have to be a fool to think God is gonna bless America after what we’ve done--for choosing Standard Oil over Justice, and Exxon over God himself. In God we trust? How dare you blame this atrocity on God! It is in Bush you trust:

You trust Bush that God has entrusted you to blow off Iraqi arms and wrap them around you to enable them to embrace your benevolence. And you trust Bush that you must lovingly pluck out Iraqi eyes to enable them to see the wisdom of viewing the world through your own. And you trust Bush that in the name of all that is good you must slaughter their children in a desperate attempt to provide them with a better future. You also trust Bush that you must rape their land and steal their wealth in order to allow them to choose the government of their choosing-- (so long as they choose the government that Bush chooses for them to choose). And you trust Bush that you do all this in the name of American charity.
You also trust Bush that God will bless America--but this Ain’t America. America is the land of the free, and home of the brave, the land of just souls who freed their slaves. No, this is not America, this is Bushland–the land of small pox infected blankets; the land of public lynchings and church–place bombings; the land of imprisoned Japanese-Americans, and corporate murderers.

Yeah, God Bless Bushland! The land of the free and home of the slave; the land of My Lai, and Calley’s mass grave. And you trust that God will bless Bushland?
Well, trust this–You are blind, my friend.

... and those who do make it home are denied a living wage
